Back with a Vengeance
What a Hurricane. Jeanne left quite an impact on our house and community. After the storm had passed, we found out that those loud ripping sounds were shingles being ripped off our roof, and those loud crashes were the roof collapsing partially on the garage due to water damage, and pieces of aluminum being torn off our roof undersiding, and being tossed into neighbor's yards. We know someone across the street who was almost beheaded when they ventured out into the storm to see what was making all the noise. Total damages to our house will probably be in the neighborhood of 10,000$. At one point I was watching outside, when a sudden gust of wind, I estimate, at about 110 mph, first bent the orange grove trees, and our oak trees over at a 45* angle, and then slammed them over fully at 90* before rain so thick reduced visibility to complete zeroeness. We lost most of our porch screens too. Like I say, major wind damage, major flooding (we live in a high area though, so were okay), and lots of other damage. But for right now, we are ok, and alive!

Jeez, glad to hear it!
Sounds like you are all taking quite a battering over there.
Just don't go and do anything stupid like taking long walks or anything in the middle of a storm...lol

At the height of the storm, the paper boy came by and delivered our paper. I was amazed that they were made to work in those conditions.

Strip Tease For Me, Baby / Tie Me To The Bed, Dear
The Ledger made people work through every hurricane that I know of...
At my mom's house part of the carport roof peeled back, two trees blowed over and alot of limbs down. The electricity didnt come back on till today. My grandfather had several trees at his house uproot and my uncle had some windows on his house blow in.
They also got to see a real pretty light show last night when the electric men turned all the power on and the entire neighborhood lit up. There was trees tangled in the lines all over so about 10 transformers blew all over the neighborhood at once. Pretty blue lights every where.... of course, then the electricity went out again and stayed out till today...

Blink If You Can Hear Me
Of course. If you give your workers days off during every hurricane in Florida, they'd have a 34 day work year.

I live in Florida.
The winds battered my house, but there was nothing serious. We live in an area with lots of houses being built. And the winds knocked over a couple of portable toilets...
