But then a few people who only liked vanilla ice cream began getting very angry. They said that only vanilla ice cream should be served. They especially hated fans of chocolate ice cream.
Soon, they'd robbed all of the people who used to buy chocolate ice cream of their money, so almost no one bought it. Soon the people who ran the ice cream parlor stopped ordering so much chocolate ice cream, and there was only a little bit. The people who liked the vanilla ice cream were fine with that. Just as long as they had more of what they liked, they were happy. For awhile.
Then one day a very angry man who liked vanilla ice cream -- and only vanilla ice cream -- came along. He said that only his flavor of ice cream should be served. A lot of people listened. He told them that they had to stick together if they wanted to survive.
So the people who liked vanilla ice cream began killing anyone who liked chocolate ice cream. Soon, the people who ran the parlor were so scared, they would only serve vanilla ice cream.
But there were some people who liked vanilla who had liked the other flavors. Some of them liked chocolate chip, or even mint. They were tired of only being able to eat vanilla. So they got together and killed the very angry man.
And from then on, most of the people who liked vanilla were very careful not to hurt anyone who liked chocolate ice cream. None of them could understand how it had all happened. They were completely flabbergasted. "Whatever was that very angry man thinking?" They asked each other. "I don't see how this could have happened. It certainly wasn't our fault," they said, and everyone agreed. There must have been something wrong with that very angry man; he wasn't like the other vanilla-lovers. After all, it was just ice cream.
