Return of the King of the Cafe!
Ok, I was wondering, galaxies contain probably millions, perhaps billions of worlds, and yet the Empire is a galactic super-power when it only owns something like sixty?

So I got to thinking and came up with an idea that I would like to try, with the staff's permission.

I hold a summit for all the unoccupied worlds of wildspace (e.g. all the ones not owned by a faction) and after a long and obviously suspensful debate, we sign a mutual defence act. This would provide no military benefit to me or the Coalition or The Outer Rim Soverinty, in fact it would give us the added responsibility of protecting worlds we don't even own from intrusion by other factions.

However this presents considerable IC advantages, including a plethoria of sympathetic and friendly worlds who we can interact with, recieve supplies and export goods, and also good support against Imperials on an idealogical standpoint. Plus, it makes adding worlds easier because we can simply go into diplomatic debate with the world in question and agree on a more united treaty. That cuts down on the creative work, and suddenly 5,000 words doesn't look so hard to write.

Whatcha think?

There's no reason why you couldn't, that I can think of.

The Empire may only "own" 60 worlds. That doesn't mean that we don't have public support on thousands of others. Most of the worlds the Empire captured in the Transition roleplay, for example, still support the Empire.

It's an interesting idea. I was just going to make a topic last night asking groups how they support their millitary.

Thanks, I was just checking. I hope to create a sort of unofficial "Azguard Territory" that could encompass a fair share of wild-space, with trade and buisness and such going on within it and me protecting it.

It'd be pretty interesting, and I'm glad to hear there is no rule against it. I just need to wait for this merger to finish up then.

a) Millions upon millions of stars but not all have planets around them. Some of them are so massive and radiant that ships attempting to approach them would probably be obliterated by solar wind alone. Others are too small to have planets. Some just don't.

b) I would personally wonder how in the flying @#%$ a relatively small faction prone to losing quite badly would secure a defense treaty with ALL of the unowned worlds, including those chock full of unfriendly alien species, those formerly owned by the Empire, and those in closer proximity to the Empire than the Coalition (IE: Most).

c) Basically what you're asking is to become the defacto government of the galaxy when in fact you would be several steps down the ladder in those under consideration for this position. Particularly considering the Empire owns the primary seat of galactic power (Coruscant) and many more worlds of extremely high population. The Empire's population -- human and non-human -- is an exponential figure in comparison to yours and it would be a bizarre move indeed for the unowned worlds of the galaxy to suddenly join forces with a less prominent group. You may be our equals militarily (if not tactically), but politically, the Coalition is a speck on the radar.

Well, all right, I guess you're correct there.

I'll go and review my idea and come back with an updated version.

You know what, I'm just gonna hold the summit, roll with the punches, and see what happens.

I mean, it's not like it'll get WORSE.

He said all the unoccupied worlds of Wild Space, which Azguard is definately a lot closer to, and, to the best of my knowledge, the Empire has never owned any planets in wild space.
