TRF is not dead yet.

For those of you who did not know already, The Rebel Faction will soon be moving to *********. We're talking within the next week or two. There are some advantages and some disadvantages, but the staff has talked this over extensively and decided that it's in the board's best interests.

Here are the important facts.

- We don't lose a single thread. They will all be transfered using a ********* webcrawl thing.
- The designs will be better.
- I will be writing a web portal that will be cool and fun and not censored by OS.
- There will be opportunities for all of you to have writing featured on said web portal.
- It'll actually probably be cheaper than ezBoard.
- Donations will now be taken through PayPal. It's a good service and works especially well for those of you without credit cards.
- We have already taken out our wallets and will be paying for this move. We aren't asking you for a red cent.
- Member files won't be transfered so you will have to re-register.
- There will be sub-forums for various member groups.

Here is how this move relates to the events of the past few days, including my being fired for no reason at all and Omnae quitting.

- Omnae and I will both be involved in this.
- The money will be in Omnae's name alone.
- OS won't be the ezOp.

For those of you against this (as I was) because of the possibility of a board collapse, think of it this way. Will you be making the move? Is there any reason to think that the other dedicated members of this board won't be? Just keep posting and everything will be fine.

We'll keep you guys updated as to when this will take place.

A sneak preview, if you will.

The forum index page. All the categories are collapsible, so if you only want to view one (Role-playing, for example) you can tuck all the others away. These settings are remembered the next time you visit as well.

Thread display. Not too much new here, there's a location box you can fill out with whatever stuff you want (eg: Naboo, Tatooine, Zigray IV). The custom titles that ezboard gives us are, for the most part, gone. In its place is a smaller text field that you can replace with whatever you want, whenever you want. Notice the large avatar. This image is hosted on the board, no longer do you need to upload to a separate host to link an image. Images are also automatically displayed at the correct size, you don't have to put special codes in to make them display.

This is part of the user control panel. Lots and lots of new stuff here. One of them would be the thread subscription feature. You can subscribe to a thread, and it is displayed in your CP so you can track it if it gets updated or not. You can also be emailed daily, or weekly if it is updated. Lots of other junk abounds too.

User selectable styles. We've just got one under serious construction now (takes a long time) but eventually we'll have more. You can pick what style you want to view the board with, whether it be the default or a totally new one.

This is the thread reply page (there's also a quick reply that is very similar to this.) The text is updated live as you type, smilies appear as images, rather than text, etc. Or, you can select a simple text box if you don't like this one.

My favorite part of that whole thing. I'm sure you're going to work hard from now on to make you out to be an innocent helpless victim and me a horrible power abusive monster.


Won't my existence on TRF from now on be fun.

Now i'll have to like... get ORGANISED. And put bookmarks to all the boards a visit. I just hope i dont get randomly logged out of Vbulliten.

And please someone say that we can kill GC/ORS and Dolash and i can start over. That will make it so... much cooler

EDIT: In hindsight, this will be much cooler than my original impression.
