The day thus far had gone very simply, everything was normal. That is, as could be called normal on Chandrila. It seemed to be the very target for countless terror attacks and pointless debacles involving the most assinine idealistic manuevers. But with how the Jutraalian Empire had quickly saved the populace time and time and time again and with thus had won their fanatical support.
And for their fanatical support they had been greatly rewarded.
Taxes were at an all time low on Chandrila and freedom at an all time high. Law enforcement was excellent and the population had everything it could ask for. Perhaps the only true issue was unemployment, especially after the big factory shut down due to environmental issues.
It had witheld dozens of attacks all planned to tear apart its way of life, but never once had the enemies had that oppurtunity. Not only because of the unbelieveable military might there, but because of the simple fact that the people there would not allow it.
Like Averam and Despayre, Chandrila had seen the better half of the Jutraalian Empire, and no matter what propaganda the fools from the Empire tried to spew forth, it was never to any true avail, they had simply seen too much good come their way.
Like now as the pathetic excuse for a military that belonged to the Damorian Corporation reeled itself out of hyperspace. It took mere seconds for the IFF codes to read as hostile before several of the sonic mines went off around the enemy Eclipse Star Destroyer and ships surrounding it. Those fighters that had tried to dump out immediately were torn apart by the sonic booms, ripped into tiny shreds of indecipherable pieces of bulk.
Admiral Eyyer simply shrugged as he watched it from the private quarters of his
Disruptor-Class Super Star Destroyer. He sat comfortably in his favorite chair, watching and smiling. It was exactly as the informants at Maverick Munitions had informed the empire.
The Damorians were indeed making a movement. It was of no real detriment. Thanks to their delay and abnoxiously loud movements, the whole of the Jutraalian Empire knew of the attack before it could ever occur. Ah the wonders of corporate informants and alliances. It really was intriguing, and he would have to learn more about it at one point.
But at the moment his major concern was to eradicate the enemy support ships that would cause direct harm to the cities on the planet. Defending the people was the first and foremost priority. Once that was done then the Jutraalian Empire could work to try to force them back.
While the enemy had indeed set up quite nicely they were a mere corporation and no doubt their ships were either undermanned or poorly trained. Of course, the admiral thought to himself, anyone is poorly trained compared to the rigorous training of a Jutraalian.
For the infantry it was weeks upon weeks at Averam station before being shipped off to Ylesia to learn the works of survival training in a harsh environment before being shipped off to Myrkr to survive the wilds of the forests. For the navy they were forced to go through rigorous mental and emotional training on Despayre and Obroa-Skai before receiving space ship experience over Generis.
It took far longer than usual but the end result was far greater than what could be desired by most.
And then for those special few who signed the proper forms and showed considerable promise were sent to Hoth for a...special project.
Now all that training would come to the test.
Thanks to that Maverick informant the Jutraalian Empire had set themselves up to prepare for the inbound enemy attack. In normal fashion they attempted to set up their jam, which was easily counteracted - or at least mostly counteracted - by high wave frequencies that in turn knocked the jam right back at them.
The immediate area around the Eclipse Star Destroyer would suffer from the jam, but beyond that it was little more than a static. On the far side of the planet it suffered no issues at all.
Another grin stole Eyyer's expression. They were ready.
The Arakyd weapons were already being charged and the shields were already on. Civilian traffic had been diverted, that way they would not be caught in the cross fire and the military craft were positioned in strategically important locations. Already as the nebs were trying to encircle the planet they were cut off by squadrons of Star Destroyers, mainly of the
Victory-Class, but even then those were powerful enough to counter such little vessels. The missile boats they dropped only added to this effect.
It would take a bit of time for them to lock on, but it was no real deal, the missiles from the Victories were already targetted and would be firing momentarily (next post). Where the groups of Nebs were cut off (assuming they were travelling three at a time which is of the norm) they were met by equal VicStars and two Imperial Star Destroyers, at least most of the groups were. Some managed to slip through due to the sheer lack of battleships to counter them with.
The groups of Carracks moving in from behind would make short work of them soon however, as the firing arc was very limited to the aft of a
Nebulan-Class B Escorft Frigate. So with X-Wing speed the light cruisers moved in and began to open up their vollies of lasers and turbolasers.
Mines already charged began to open vollies of both lasers and missiles on the enemy capital ships as were the admirals orders, beating on their shields viciously. The Nebulans, while packing a vicious punch, had very little defenses, especially against such craft.
The fighter skirmishes were not to the admiral's liking, but did that truly matter? Whenever enemy fighters would be drawn too close to the Victories they were torn apart by both missiles and laser batteries, the turbolasers were reserved for the enemy Nebs.
The Imperial Star Destroyers were mainly huddled around the Eclipse Star Destroyer, which would be a great detriment to the oncoming
Disruptor-Class Star Destroyer and her escorts, but a few well aimed arakyd shots and a few of the hundreds of turbolaser shots would serve her well.
With the gencore shield generator turned on it only solidified the defenses and the little "message" the Damorians attempted to send was completely blotched out by their own attempted at jamming the system. Fighters waited and were prepped down on the ground, and the garrisons were set and ready.
The battle was on in full fury and it was time for the Damorians to learn what it meant to try to quarrel with Emperor Fearsons's empire.
