Ruthless and Methodical

OOC: This post is occurring at the exact same time as Strategic Aggression.

Commodore Trachta stood on the bridge of the Venerator-class coomand Star Destroyer, Barbarossa. He had recently been promoted to this position and now he would prove his worthiness of such a postition.

Tractha looked out the main viewport of the bridge as he stood there. His inhuman cyberntic face stared out at the stars. It was time to begin operations. Trachta turned towards his seond in command, Captain Fowl.

"Captain, order the scout jumps to commence. I want to see if there is any current resistence before we jump in. Also make sure they have orders so that one of them is spotted before we jump in."

"Yessir," Captain Fowl said as he turned and began issuing orders. Several of the Shroud Attack cruisers turned and jumped into hyperspace.

Soon, Trachta was recieving information on the system. All seemed quiet and no defense force was currently in the system. What a ripe target it was. It was time to begin phase two.

"Captain, dispatch Immobilizer crusiers to their positions so that phase three may commence."

Fowl nodded and gave more orders. The fleet's Immobilizer cruisers soon jumped into hyperspace. It took several hours to position them once they entered the system, but they were in place.

"Phase three," Trachta ordered as he sat in his command chair. The viewport before him distorted as the hyperspace engines actived. Within half an hour his ship and the rest of the Command Flotilla were tugged out of hyperspace by his own interdiction fields, precisely as planned.

Trachta now looked down at the globe of Corellia. The New Republic's secondary capital if the first fell. This would be quite interesting.

As Trachta turned to the comm station he watched as other confirmation messages came in as the other squadrons were pulled out of hyperspcae by the Interdictor fields over thier target planets. Almost the entire Corellian system was now under blockade and attack.

"Begin phase four," Trachta ordered.

Soon phase four became apparent when Abolisher-class cruisers arrived and established and linked fields around the system's main entry points in a way that if a fleet hyperspaced in they would have some severe manuvering problems besides some ships disappearing permanently.

Trachta looked down at Corellia. He wondered how long it would be before the Republic tried to boot him out of the system. It didn't matter, he would start up operations while he was here.

He ordered the planetary assault squadron foreward to begin the attack on Corellia. He also ordered in the rest of his shrouds and kept them posted on constant patrols to ensure he would know when an enemy fleet would arrive. He would not be taken by surprise while he was in this system that festered with those loyal to the Republic.

Trachta was also not foolish to reveal an extra trump card of the fleet reserves which remained just a microjump out of the system in one of the safe zones where the abolisher fields weren't active. It also acted as a first-warning if the Republic came that way somehow.

He then sent out some beacons that began to broadcast an insolent little message to anyone who brought them up as tehy entered the system.

"Welcome to Fortress Corellia."

Ruthless and Methodical

“Sir,” came the cry from weapons, “Enemy ships have just entered the system.”

The fire order was given quicker than the realization that they were under attack had started to sink in.

Two of the three mighty Golan III Orbital Battle Stations opened up fire futilely upon the enormous Imperial attack force. The third was on the far side of the planet, another eight hours away from seeing any action. Relays between the Golan commanders and the military leaders that happened to be on Corellia were taking place rapidly, make the preparations for invasion that were possible.

The first of Corellia’s planetary wide shield generators activated, putting the heart of the New Republic in a protective cocoon, while the second was primed and ready if the first one did fall. Ground command busily gathered what information from the Golan crews, now a single Golan crew, one station has just slipped over the horizon and no longer had a line of fire, to transmit hyperspace jump orders to near by defense fleets to avoid a deadly collision with plusemass energy spheres. They were several minutes out and were expected to arrive before a major offensive against the helpless planet could be mounted.

Jumping in from regions unknown safely behind the main Imperial taskforce came the equally as formidable First Collective Defense Fleet. Immediately, the ship formed up in a defensive arrowhead, the Corellia-Class Vylx Battle Cruisers of Vanguard Taskforce leading the charge and quickly jammed all Imperial communications, ruling out a possible call for re-enforcements. Green turbolaser blots leapt from the hulls of the leading ships towards the deadly Abolishers. As more ships reached firing range, the shields of the Abolishers were quickly being whittled away.

With Imperial attention on the advancing defense fleet, on the other side of the planet, a more daunting threat would soon be awaiting the Imperials…

Smells Of Tibanna Gas

...The system must fall with all dispatch. There are five worlds in it, and I want everyone of them taken.

Line Captain Avril Marchus recalled those words from his pre-operation briefing aboard the Command Destroyer near Bastion. They had sunk in, but the sheer immensity of the overall plan was boggling in and of itself. To capture every planet in the system in a rapid campaign would require more forces that had been committed in the first wave; more were to come however, easing slightly the pressure on the squadron commanders' shoulders.

The Planetary Assault Flotilla attached to the Centurion Fleet ahd been deployed aft of the formation along with the Fleet Reserve, the other squadrons foreward as an advance screen in depth. Fighters had taken positions above, below, ahead and behind the fleet so that any pesky fighters would be dealt with easily and quietly.

Sealed orders were relayed to Captain Marchus, commander of the Planetary Assault Squadron and commander of the Victory II-class Star Destroyer Mauser.

Commence phase two.

With that, the Planetary Assault Squadron and her dedicated vessels moved away from the Fleet under her protective screen. Next to Corellia in the set of inhabited Corellian System planets was Drall. It sent in the sphere of protection the Fleet had created and so on all sides the Destroyers were protected by fighters, assault craft, and the capital warships of the Centurion Fleet.

" Status of Drall shields?" Marchus asked.

" None raised yet."

" Disperse us into effective yield range and load all proton torpedo batteries."

" As ordered, Captain."

The aging design but newly built Star Destroyers spread themselves out so their fire would overlap only at the fringes allowing each vessel more freedom in its fire pattern.

" All batteries report ready, all ships."

" Deploy fighter screen. All batteries are to commence firing, target military bases, land based defenses, fighter launch areas, staging zones, and populus cities. Let us repay teh Rebels, shall we? Twenty minutes and the casualties Endor will pale!"

Minutes later, the first salvo of red tongued projectiles lanced out from the wedge shaped behemoths ready to sow destruction and devastation of the civilian world below.

Trachta stood there and mentally smirked to himself as the first resistence arrived. Quite a fleet to face his. He wondered what would happen.

Everything then suddenly started happening quickly. They were attacking an abolisher set there to cause some difficutlies for fleets. Trachta opened long range-communications only to hear static.

"Jamming?" He asked rhetorically. Of course they would be jamming. They don't want him to get off and warnings to High Command.

"Well too bad," Trachta muttered to himself as he turned towards the officer in charge of the Barbarossa's probe droids.

"Lieutent Wilvs, launch probes for relaying operations in a circular pattern. I'd like to see them hunt all of those down."

Wilvs nodded and then started working at his station. He soon stodd up and ran off to the launch bay with a dadtacard in his hand. When he got there they had the probes ready and he simply introduced the relaying command and programming into them so that the fleet would remain in communication.

As Wilvs finished the probes were loaded and then activated. They were then launched in a circular pattern.

The probes slowly moved at first each adjusting to it's trajectory and then suddenly each activted its engines flying quickly away from the Barbarossa.

Trachta watched from the bridge as the probes all moved away from the Command Flotilla and the regathering Centurion Fleet. He would need it to be formed up to face off against the fleet sent to face off against him. Trachta walked to his command chair and pressed the fleet-wide comm unit.

"Attention, attention. This is Comodore Trachta(Trachta could practically see officers rolling their eyes at that announcement). All ships are to launch fighters to act as their screens immediately to defend against incoming enemy vessels. All ships to battle sations. Planetary Assault Squad to maintain operations while fleet begins battle manuvers. All Abolisher and Immobilizers to evasive actions while maintaining fields."

Trachta watched the bridge crew around him jump to battle sations as the wailing alarm went off on the Barbarossa and all other fleet ships. He ten turned to his comm unit and activated the probe relay system allowing him to get in contact with High Command.

"Comodore Trachta reporting in. Our forces have come into contact with the first resistence force. it is a large fleet. I am preparing to engage. Any new orders?"

Kamon Vondiranach

Jedi Mastah

Kamon had received immediate orders to go Corellia. He was to take over the defense. He had already been told of spaceways being blocked by interdictors and such. So, he dropped out outside of the enemy vessels.

His ship, the only one he could spare from defense assignments of TDY, was the Mon Calamari 80 Starcruiser Starfire. He would use it as his command vessel.

Since he couldn't get through the enemy forces, he would have to set up one of the old TNR tatctics. That of using a command ship outside of the battle.

He turned to his communications officer.

"Give me contact with the Home One style cruiser. I need to see who is in charge."

"Yes, sir."

He waited a few moments before the communications officer turned back to him.

"No good. They're being jammed."

"OK. I'll have to use the Force."

He sent a message to whoever was in charge. He told him to move into a defense sphere postition around the planet and the shipyards. Then he prepared to take over the defense.

They come, numbering more then one hundred thick.

Their sheer size merited respect... it was the intentions that were to fear.

In silent succession the fleet fell out of hyperspace. Their precision of flight, so deft as to be intimate.

First in their number were the pair Dark Tyrant and Dark Shard. Twinned dagger shaped craft beyond six kilometers in length. Each so black in colour that the vastness of space beyond them falls dwarfed in their wake.

Alone but for a mere instant, the two become joined by their entourage nearly as one.

Each came with its shields and weapons powered down. It was clear their immediate intention was not one of out right aggression.

A number did break pattern from the larger group and move off in various different but plotted courses. Fourteen Abolisher Heavy-Cruisers with direct orders moving in at breakneck speed, each set to block the major routes to Selonia.

Alone from this, only one other action was taken, an action that could be interpreted any number of ways.
Each ship arranged itself in best position and began to jam all communications from the surface. At least, this was their target.

Though still, the fleet maintained its' distance, beyond most accurate range of the planetary and orbital defenses. They do this at the cost of effectiveness, yes. But, on the side of question.

As it happens, all is silent from the fleet above. All but their transponders.

Kamon decided he was prepared and he drew on the Force. The technique was a difficult one but he had used it before. He formed a Force web.

He concentrated the minds of the TNR troops and focused them on one goal. That goal was to keep the enemy forces away from the planet.

By forming a Force web, it gave him the effect of being everyperson on the TNR side. He could control what the people did. This made them a very effective force.

He moved his forces toward the enemy vessels and opened fire on the ships. Specifically on the Abolishers. They needed to go down.

Corellian System

Invisible, the ships under Admiral Osiaric’s command flew through the Corellian system. Faster than sound, they went undetected by all. Passing masterfully through the intentional yet small gaps in the Abolisher fields, which had been left there for just that purpose.

Trachta was also not foolish to reveal an extra trump card . . . one of the safe zones where the abolisher fields weren't active.

The ships under Osiaric’s command were moving through one such “safe zone” now. A specific place, which would be closed behind them once they were through, stopping all chances of a pursuer making it into the system.

Unlike Commodore Trachta or the Sovereign Protector Dion Silk however, Osiaric was moving toward neither Corellia nor Selonia. The forces already deployed at those locations had been deemed adequate to quell any resistance that may spring up.

The commanders had been given a single fleet, to deal with a single world.

Osiaric had two.

Pandemonium II

The Imperial warfleet dropped out of hyperspace near the Double Worlds, totally prepared for battle. The weapons charged, the shields were up, and the scanners were active, searching the pit of space for enemy ships.

“Admiral, all communications have been jammed,” a man from the crew pit called, searching for Osiaric’s attention. The Admiral merely nodded his head; this was not an unforeseen move.

“Admiral, sensors indicate signs of fighting near the world of Corellia. Also, massive warship deployment around Selonia. No indications of combat there, though.” It was another voice, but Osiaric treated it with the same silent response.

Out the front viewport, the world of Talus was visible, although it and the space around it was partially obscured by the mass of warships which had jumped in ahead of the command group. The Third Destroyer Legion, Osiaric’s temporary extra fleet. In addition to the Third First Sentinel Division, the it would create an unstoppable force, ready to crush whatever lay in it’s path.

The fleet was already picking up speed as Osiaric rose from his command chair and began walking down the length of the bridge. Behind the massive warship, other elements of the Third Sentinel were being deployed. Fighters launched, and Abolishers set up their deadly fields of hyperspace blackness. In the fore, and leading the battle, the Third Destroyer Legion formed up into it’s pre-designated positions.

The battle was about to begin.

Ruthless and Methodical

Trachta's mental smirk was in full force in his mind. The appearance of a fleet from TCE had been unexpected but welcome and now more TNO attack groups had entered. This allowed him to now focus on TNR forces attacking his abolishers.

"Order the fleet to engage the enemy forces. Use focused firepower tactics so we can pick off their shpis quicker than they can retaliate. I want no stray blasts. I want to throw all of each squadron's firepower into a single ship at a time."

Trachta watched as the fleet now advanced towards the enemy forces that were harrassing the abolishers, who were using their engines as best as possible to stay out of weapons range of the enemy fire.

At the head of the approaching fleet was the Barbarossa with it's weapons ready as well as the rest of the battle groups, each group marking it's first target ship to concentrate fire on.

Soon enough they entered range and the Barbarossa's cannons were the first to fire. The battle had begun with TNO Centurion Fleet throwing up a wall of fire at several ships at a time. Tractha watched as all hell broke loose.

"Command Flotilla, focus on enemy MonCal Home One-class Posiedon. I want it annihilated," Trachta said as he watched his fleet's fighter squadrons flying out to intercpet enemy fighters and the Lancers taking up positions to gun down any that got too close to the capital squadron formations. He was also preparing to play one of his other trumps cards if he needed it.

Kamon smirked.

"Tick tock, Trachta. You have fallen into my trap."

He focused his will on drawing the posiedon back. Then he set his plan in motion. He had a small force of ships set up one system away and it would take them two minutes to jump in outside the abolishers range.

He had picked his fastest ships. He called them in to break a hole in the Abolisher fleet. During the necessary two minutes, he focused the TNR fleet on the Barbarossa. They opened fire in unison. The barbarossa withstood the first few blasts of proton torpedoes from the snubfighters and the capital ships, then its shield went down. The TNR fleet kept firing.

The Tdy forces cam out of hyperspace and quickly moved into range on one of the Abolishers, its shields were stripped, and it began to take hull damage.
