Her hair flowed behind her as she pulled her purse closer around her body, wrapping her soft fingers around it's thin black strap. At her side, she carried the arsenal of a Lawyer.... her briefcase-black in color to match the delicate black fabric of her Corellian suit. It had been three days.... three agonizing days, and still the Inquisition continued. She stormed forward, her black high heels clicking against the polished gray-marble floor of the Supreme Court building of Coruscant, now ruled by high ranking Imperial Arbitrators, the most harsh, and direct judges in the Galaxy.
It had been only a few days within the Somir Family's Criminal Empire, and already her services were required. Not bad.... but she better be getting paid good for this one.
The Perpetrator....
Brahle Logris.... A powerful, and high ranking criminal boss behind the Somir Empire that was believed to be the right hand of
the Boss himself. He was worth more than she would ever hope to be in her lifetime. Probably even worth more than the Somir Empire to the Imperial Authorities, if what they accused him of was backed by hard evidence. That kind of evidence was going to be hard to cover up..... maybe too hard for the Somir Family to compete with.
She continued through the courthouse, an unimpressed look on her face as the large marble desk before her grew larger with each passing moment. A frenzy of Holonet News Droids, and personnel followed behind her, but at a safe distance, something that Meschi, or even the Boss himself was behind. She stopped, slamming her briefcase down against the polished desk top, the secretary's white mug shaking as if an earthquake had suddenly appeared, and then gone-vanishing as if nothing had happened.
"I'd like to speak with my Client, Mister Brahle Logris. My name is Adrena Williams, Attorney at Law." she started, prying the briefcase open as she pulled a book of documents out, flicking her hair back out of her face, and readjusting her glasses. She flashed her Identification Card briefly, and then stuffed it back into the purse at her side.
"Do you have an appointment?" the coarse woman started as she patted a white appointment book on the desk smoothing the papers out as a fake smile crossed her face.
"No. I don't need one. I'm a lawyer." she snapped back, tossing the endless book of paperwork on the desk. "And can you have each of those copied.... three times."
Adrena smirked as the woman picked up the stack of paper, a distasteful and exasperated look on her face. Yet, she stood in silence, rolling her tongue around in her mouth. "I can't let you in without an appointment."
Adrena smirked, taking a step back as she folded her arms. "Well, then it looks like I'll be seeing you in court as well. Section five, amendment three of the Imperial Criminal Justice Doctrine state that I have exclusive access to my client, regardless of his criminal record, or charges." She paused for a moment, taking a crisp white piece of paper from her briefcase, stuffing it in front of the woman's nose. "As you can see, my Client has signed a statement stating that, not only am I representing him, I am filing all claims, and counter suits against the Imperial Justice System. Under Section three of the counter suit filed against the New Order‘s Imperial Justice System, and Chief of Internal Security, it states that..." Adrena paused, running her finger over the document as the woman held it. "Any person, or persons held accountable for detaining my client without power of attorney can be sued for obstruction of Justice, withholding evidence, and defiance of Imperial Law. If you'd like me to continue, I'd be more than happy to have you file a suit right now..."
The woman stepped back, slightly shocked at what had just happened - the threat of being sued herself, yet her face remained smothered in distaste for the woman. "Alright.... He's in cell Three C."
"Thanks..." she squinted at the woman's name tag, "
Doris.... you have yourself a wonderful day. I'll be expecting my copies in twenty minutes..."
Adrena smiled, lifting her briefcase with an egotistical smile slanting across her lips. She was quite proud of herself. She gave the woman a brief nod, and continued down the hallway at a quickened pace.
Damn I'm Good... she told herself as she pulled open the decorative glass doors leading into the court room's cell lobby, just prior the criminal holding cells. It was rather unusual for someone to be put on trial so quickly.... Coruscant was a city... or should she say, planet bursting with sin. It would take up to three years at a time for obsolete misdemeanor trials.... in fact, she could distinctly remember representing a client that had been held in prison for three years, awaiting trial for stealing a Bothan's fiddlesticks at a local diner.
She stepped forward to a bared door, running her fingers through her hair, but not taking her eyes off of the figure that stood before her.
The Chief of Internal Security himself....
"Miss Williams..." he started. No emotion crossed his face. He merely stood with his hands folded neatly in front of him, one hand wrapped around the other. He wore the usual, a formal black suit and tie with dark black sunglasses covering his eyes. He was a mature man, but he looked like he could still pack a punch.
"Yes?" she said, an innocent smile still cloaking her expression of vulgar distaste.
"I was informed of your arrival.... your reputation precedes you. It's no secret what you're here for... and I know
they must be paying you good money to defend this @#%$. But you don't know what you're getting yourself into, of who you‘re dealing with..." he started as he took off his glasses, folded them neatly, and then pushed them into the deep recesses of his pocket. "I'm going to do everything in my power to see that this man fries for what he's done. You may be good, but you're not good enough. Keep that in mind."
With that, he stepped aside, opened the door, and allowed her passage, a close escort of Internal Security Officers followed with there rifles at there sides. She was appalled.... it wasn't every day a woman walked into a prison filled with the most vile criminals of Coruscant... and it wasn't every day forty five men were staring at her breasts. A few shouted obscenities, but she put them out of her mind, keeping her head held high as she strode past the cells. She pulled her suit closer around her, buttoning the last few buttons to cover her cleavage as she continued down the long row of cells.
"Three C. This is it..." the Guard said with a chuckle... Adrena merely groaned.
Naturally, the most vile, and filthy cell on the block.
"Mister Brahle Logris...?" she said as the guard opened the door with the thick security encoded pass card. She stepped forward into the cell, a single figure sitting in the dark corner puffing on a cigarette.
"I'm your Attorney..."
