Vequil smiled as the shuttles launched and flew down to the planet, to wipe out these damm Rebels. His fleet began to pull away from the planet, and suddenly alarms blared.
"Sir, incoming ships. Our initial formation will be wiped out by the amount of them."
"Call in the reserves. Get me information. I want to know how much they have, and where it is."
Vequil knew no fear. Being the superior tactician that he was, he always liked to keep a large amount of ships in reserve, which was why his fleet was divided into two sections.
Taskforce Csilla, the initial one, was made of mainly Star Destroyers, with the Spirit of Csilla, a Defender Star Destroyer, his flagship. Accompaning that was two Imperial Star Destroyers, three Defender Star Destroyers, five Victory Star Destroyers and five Lancer Frigates. There was also an Interdictor Cruiser. The second taskforce, Taskforce Exterminator, was much larger. Two Defender Star Destroyers, Exterminator and Blood Gutter, were the largest in the fleet. Then came five Victory Star Destroyers, ten Aegis Star Cruisers Mark Two, five Aegis Star Carriers, an Interceptor Cruiser, six Nebulon-B2 Frigates, seven Lancer Frigates and two more Interdictor Cruisers. The enemy wouldn't have more then that.
"Sir, we have four Imperial Star Destroyers, twelve Victory Star Destroyers, and ten Dreadnaught Heavy Cruisers. They are launch Clawcraft. Wait, they have two Interdictor Cruiser at the back of the formation, powering up gravity well generators. They are moving into a bowl formation, the Interdictors at the edge, with some Victory Star Destroyers providing protection. Then we have the dreadnaughts, and finally, at the center, we have the majority of the Victory Star Destroyers and the Imperial Star Destroyers there."
"Call in Taskforce Exterminator, get the interdictor to pull them out of hyperspace. Launch all fighters, commence the attack. I want us in a wedge formation, though prepare for it to move out into a bowl. Cut directly through their formation, keep the Interdictor in the center. Standard wedge formation, stronger ships then weakers ones, though I want ourselves and Havoc at the back, providing cover for the fleet. I want a the Lancer Frigates to stay in the center as well, moving out to help a capital ship, only if it's fighters can't deal with the threat. Now, what do they expect us to do?"
"Continue on our path, aiming at the edge of the bowl, at one of the Interdictors."
"Exactly, so what don't we do?"
"We don't do what they expect us to do."
"Excellent. Therefor, what do we do?"
"We aim for the center, at the strongest point, and blow through the formation, not lingering for a long battle. Then, when our backup fleet comes, we swerve around for another pass."
"On our next pass, where will it be aiming?"
"At a different point then our original course, probably at one of the ends of the bowl. Then, we spread out, work our way up from that side, all the way through the line, to the last side, staying in a wedge formation, though it may be wide at the front, like a broken blade."
"Good work, Lieutenant."
Vequil loved questioning his subordinates, it taught them better tactics, for when they became the captain of a ship or fleet, and it made sure that they knew what they were doing. Also, it ws easier to promote them, if they were frequently tested. In fact, Lieutenant Serin was due for a promotion soon. He glanced out the viewport, as the taskforce altered direction and sped up, the trap was set, and the Rebels had bitten on the bait...
