Return of the King of the Cafe!
So far, I only have one disk of music, which is a compilation of my favourite songs from various cds I found around the house. However, after a year of listening to the same twenty-four songs, I've decided perhaps it'd be worth assembling a second disk, so that I might alternate. Now, I have some songs so far:

London Calling, by The Clash

Spanish Bombs, also by the Clash

Death or Glory, also by the Clash

The Space Between, by David Mathew's Band

Gravedigger, also by David Mathew's band

Sally Maclennane, by the Pogues

Thousands are Sailing, by the Pogues

Two numbers by Bach, which I cannot identify as the disk does not name them.

Brian Wilson by the Bare Naked Ladies

Yoko Ono, by the Bare Naked Ladies

Shoebox, by BNL

Thanks that was fun, by BNL

That cruising song, from The Blues Brothers

Everybody needs somebody, by the Blues Brothers

Jailhouse Rock, played by the Blues Brothers

So as you see, the list is lengthly as it is. But I still have a lot of space to go, and wish to know if anyone here can advise good songs to round it out and fill it up. Oh, and I listened to Matt Good, and he's pretty good, so I might pick up one of his CDs and give it a whirl to pick out a few more.

I really didn't like Gravedigger, the song. Not as good as some of Dave's stuff.

Ummm... okay, what've I been listening to lately...

Matt Good is a positive prerequisite on most of my compilations. I'll reccomend a couple of songs... try and keep it a little short..

Suburbia, Avalanche, Apparitions, The Rat Who Would be King, Carmelina, Pledge of Allegiance, Man of Action, Everything is Automatic, Load Me Up... all good stuff, depends on whether you want to rock out, or mellow out.

I dig Coldplay, a lot, as well. You can pick up Rush of Blood to the Head for under ten bucks, which should likely be illegal.

Favourite tracks... Trouble, Beautiful World, In My Place, The Scientist, Politik, God Put A Smile Upon My Face...

That's a CD's worth of music right there. But if you're in the mood for more rock...

I dig alternative, politically flavoured rock. So a must have is some Rage Against the Machine. DON'T BE FOOLED. Audioslave is a cheap copy and not really worth checking out. Rage is the way to go.

People of the Sun, No Shelter, Testify, even Guerilla Radio is good.

Another favourite is System of a Down. Unlike most bands, I think System of a Down has gotten better with time, instead of worse. I bought System of a Down, after seeing some of their new music videos, and wasn't really impressed, but I bought the Toxicity album and really digged it. Some of their choice selections...

Toxicity, Ariels, Prison Song, War, Science, Boom, and of course, you would be remiss not to include the all time classic, @#%$ the System.

Now we're getting into filling out a whole CD rack, but some other recommendations are Prodigy, Our Lady Peace, REM... depending on what you want to listen to, of course.

Generally you don't put so many songs by the same disc in a compilation. It defeats the purpose of a compilation, which is to provide a sample of a variety of bands or song falling into a certain category.

OMG. I agree with Ceel.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention Anti-Pop. I hardly ever burn Matt Good comps anymore, since I own most of the albums now... but Anti-Pop has a permanent place in my liquid MP3 collection.

Get some Harry Connick, Jr. too. For a big band/jazz performer, he's actually pretty good.

I recommend burning anything on "Beautiful Midnight" by Matthew Good. To me, that is the best album.
