So, here's the thing.

You've seen the youtube tribute videos, where they have lots of different film clips sellotaped together with a fitting song in the background....

So, all well and good.

Now, I wanted to know if there was any software out there that would rip only a clip from a dvd tom mpeg or avi (so I don't have to wait seventeen hours for the whole film to "transfer" only to find out there's been an "error.").

Let's assume that there is this mythical software.

Now, I have several different clips from lots of different movies. I'm not making this for youtube (whic forces the clips into a onesize box), lets say I'm making it for a presentation (or something). All of these films have different aspect ratio's and different tones in their colouring.

Is there any video editing software out there that I can load these different clips into and alter the tone, grain and appearnce of the clips.
