I like that site, good show Syren... I think Im becoming rascist.... more so I mean....
I admit that I am not racist against an entire race or nation of people, just selective individuals. Does that make sense? I haven't had a good experience with any mexican male, however, the women that I have met, lived next door to or worked with were nice.
Like I said before, there are many racist idiots at that site who have nothing better to do than spew their crap, but there are also a few who are not racist and can present an intelligent discussion/debate without resorting to racist remarks.
A friend linked me to that site, which has helped a bit in finding information I need to write an essay for my composition class on this subject. I think there are many threads and statements at that site that are over-exaggerated, but that's just my personal opinion.
As mentioned before, I personally do not have a problem with immigration. The big stink is that there are 20 million (+/-) here who are in the country illegally. That is what has most people in an uproar, not the fact that they are here at all. The majority only wants the immigrants to go through the legal process of coming to the country and working toward earning their citizenship status.
For the government to allow businesses and industries who hire illegal aliens to go unpunished, and to allow illegal aliens to remain in the country illegally, sends the wrong message to its legal citizens. It tells the citizens that its okay to break and violate the current laws of our nation if you're in the country illegally or supporting illegal aliens.
We already have a system in place that immigrants are to follow for becoming a legalized US citizen. Some have argued that its too hard or too strict. It's suppose to be. The US must protect itself and its people from disease, from draining its resources, etc. Does the United States have the means to support an influx of, let's say 200 illegal aliens per day as an example, crossing the borders? (Low number, I know, it's just used for the sake of argument). That comes to what? Roughly seventy-thousand(+) in one year.
Way back when, immigrants coming in through Ellis Island (and other ports), were stopped the moment they set foot on the ground and checked for lice and other communicable diseases.
(And yes, I'm well aware of the fact that the first settlers stripped the lands and everything else from the Indians. I never said I was proud of that or that it was right.)
PS: There are some very good, very valid argumentative points made in this thread. Would anyone mind if I quoted some of them in my essay?
