In regards to the Colonies, I did kind of the same thing; mind mine is following a different track where-in and where-by the attacks are not over in the sense of being "mopped up" but will be an ongoing issue - one which I hope to use as a vehicle for other faction involvment.

There is no time rush here to keep Cataclysm going as there will be several plots going at once, each on their own time schedule
Which is the main thing, really. The Cree'Ar invasion on Kashan I pursue on my own time whenever I want. I would not like, however, to keep other people waiting endlessly on other Cataclysm plots in which the Confederation is involved in with other factions. Those have a bit higher priority than the Cree'Ar invasion on my to-do list. That's all I'm saying.

It's expected that some plot lines will not move as fast and really, unless a whole bunch of other people are involved in the Cree'Ar invasion of Kashan, you are not really going to hold anyone up.
