I guess raw materiels stands for raw harvest rather than unprocessed materiels and minerals/ore.

To gain minerals, you have to click on the system, then click "Mine _____", then use 3 turns at a time to mine that mineral (you gain ore at the same time). The more planets in the system you have set to mining, the more you get each turn. Ore, while you don't need it for any of your missions, is big bucks. And just wait till you get to the 50 000 000 Red Crystal mission, which goes for between 300-400 credits per unit. Thats billions of credits.

Fun. Right now I'm on the 10 million rutile mission. At first I tried to colonize a new system to mine it, but after several tries none of my new systems were able to mine it, so it looks like I'll have to buy it all off the market.

I finished Act 2 and can't do any more cause apparently after that its only for paid accounts.

I'm 1/10 of the way to completing the Rutile mission. Right now I'm working on researching the destroy system project so I can continue on my quest of creating a system that mines rutile.

Mining it won't get you a lot quickly. Like I'd say get at least 10 000 planets and you'd get 500 - 700 ish per turn mining. Fortunately you also gain ore, which sells for big money (on RT its generally around 4600-5000, but if you put it at 5000 its still guaranteed to sell within the hour).
I used Ore/my lord giving me 20 Billion food per day/selling my own food I had to supply my mineral gaining needs.
