HA! I've actually debated this topic before, and I think I won. They tried to define "pen" as ideals and junk, and a sword as a sword. And I just got up and said "Um... you can't compare a physical weapon to a broad set of ideals... it's stupid." 
Really, though: the burden of proof is on the Affirmitive. The pen is mightierb. The negative only has to prove that the two deserve equal recognition, which is what I did.
