Ky-Vin neared the creature on one side, while Kenshin approached from the other. It was turning around to get a look at its opponents.

Ky-Vin tried to time his next attack along with Kenshin's. He suspected the creature was indeed using the Force to predict their movements. His suspicions were confirmed when it suddenly whipped its tail across toward Kenshin as he moved in. To his credit, Kenshin dodged the swipe but could not avoid the creature's kicking hind leg. It knocked Kenshin in the chest and stomach, and he fell backwards.

Ky-Vin took this opportunity to strike. The creature anticipated it, and turned its neck away from his blow. Instead of killing the beast, Ky-Vin managed only to strike the creature in its shoulder, which was armored with heavy black scales. It suffered a deep wound. He had to leap back again, though, as the serpent snapped and swiped at him with its deadly claws.

Ky-Vin could see that they had the creature on the ropes now. It could defeat either of them easily had they faced it alone. But together, the beast was no match for the Jedi padawans.

Ky-Vin and Kenshin exchanged glancing blows with the creature, and it got more and more fierce, more desperate to kill. But the two Jedi remained focused and in control. But how long could they keep up this struggle?

Ky-Vin made a bold move. He used the Force to leap up onto the creature's back. He was careful to avoid the long, sharp spines that stuck out of the scaly creature's neck and shoulders. He leaned forward with one hand and tried to hang on, because it immediately bucked and tossed and turned, attempting to throw him off.

Ky-Vin was hanging on for dear life, he was waving his green blade at the creature's clawing forelimb. The creature titled and whirled, it was whipping its long neck around to get its head in position to tear Ky-Vin off.
"Kenshin!" Ky-Vin shouted to his companion, barely audible above the serpent's screams of rage.
It pivoted its head around, leaving its neck vulnerable.

Kenshin's attack had served its purpose, the creature was mortally wounded. Letting go his handhold, Ky-Vin raised his lightsaber above his head and drove the green blade down into the creature's roaring head. As he did this, the beast reared back in fury and pain, and Ky-Vin was thrown backwards. He tumbled downwards and was flung to the ground a few yards away.

Then the creature's cries of pain stopped, and it slumped forward in a heap, sending up a small cloud of dust. Its tail flicked back and forth for a moment or two, and then it stopped moving altogether. Blood flowed out from underneath its dark scaly body to form small pools in the rock and dirt.

Ky-Vin's side ached. He felt battered and bruised, as if he had pulled a dozen muscles. But nothing appeared to be broken. He coughed a few times and warily approached the creature. Kenshin was doing the same. Both men were out of breath.

Ky-Vin opened himself up to the Force. He could feel the presence of the dark side weaken, disperse, and finally disappear. He looked at Kenshin.
"Are you alright?" he asked tiredly. Ky-Vin was truly exhausted.

Ky-Vin smiled. "Beat, but not beaten," he said jokingly.
He walked around the dead creature's body, as if examining it closer now that it couldn't harm them.
"There are stories of these creatures in Jedi lore, a result of the Sith's dark rituals on this planet.. I never thought we'd actually run into one here.." he said.
Ky-Vin seemed to forget how the creature had been trying to kill them and was no fascinated by the monster.

Some of their belongings had been damaged in the struggle. Their pack with their supplies looked like it had been chewed up and spit up by a Sarlacc, but their rations were relatively intact. Their lantern had been completely smashed, however, and was scattered in pieces all over the place.

Ky-Vin looked up at the sky. It was early morning, the sun wouldn't rise for a couple of hours yet. But the clouds were moving quickly indeed. The winds had gotten stronger.

He looked at Kenshin. "Would you like to rest up a bit before he continue onwards?" He himself was looking forward to an hour or more of sleep.

Ky-Vin nodded. It was settled then. He moved their belongings off to the side, away from the creature's body.
It would be weird to sleep next to such a thing, but there was no point in fussing over it.

Ky-Vin wanted to refresh himself with the Force, and meditate on the night's events. But he decided to just try and sleep for a while first. He got back into his sleeping bag. It was funny, the way he was going back to sleep as if nothing happened. Battling a huge dark side creature on a desolate planet: just a typical day in the life of a Jedi.
Ky-Vin grinned and fell asleep.
