Some oldies but goodies, if you haven't seen them:
The Boondock Saints (1999) - my new favourite action movie of all time.
Lots of violence and lots of swearing, though (they use the word fuck 246 times, I'm told). Might not be your thing. But really, really good otherwise.
American Beauty (1999) - Awesome... if you've seen and liked Garden State, you'll like this. On that note...
Garden State (2004) - Amazing film.
Closer (2004) - Also a great film.
Good Will Hunting (1997)
Lucky Number Slevin (2006) - Very clever, if a little violent, thinking movie.
Inside Man (2006) - Often compared to L#Slevin, so if you like one see the other, too. This one is less violent and, imo, a little cleverer.

Just saw The Prestige. Great film, very similar to The Illusionist in content, yet better in almost every way. Thicker characters, an unpredictable ending and great acting.
