A lamp came hurtling up from the compartment then, Dak's hand catching it an instant before it would have hit him in the face. " You can start by pointing that down here, I'm gonna need both hands for this."
In the shadows of the engine compartment Kami grumbled as she unscrewed ametal plate that would give her direct access to the hyperdrive. She had spent months designing every failsafe on the
God Killer, meticulous planning and countless hours spend in the cramped engine space. And here she was now, all because of Dak, tearing into it to shut it all down.
Her eyes scanned the many wires and parts that made up the hyperdrive. It should be easy enough to shut it down. All she had to do was-
" God damn!!" She screamed as a jolt of energy travelled through the screwdriver she held and up her arm. The pain sent her standing up so quickly she banged her head on the floor above her.
" What is it?" Dak asked.
Kami rubbed at the sore spot on her head and started to lift herself out of the compartment. " I forgot about that one. Never thought I'd actually be trying to bipass it." She sat on the edge of the hole, scowling at Dak. " I've hunted a lot more dangerous people that you, Blackblade, and I had designed this ship to be guarded against their kind. Splicers, hacks, brutes that would sooner tear the engine to shreds instead of trying to shut her down.
" The engine is protected by an energy feed back. Once Hyperdrive is engaged if anyone would attempt to even touch the engine it would send a shock of electricity through them. Just a minor one at first, but then the rest of the trap is set off and to touch it again would send about 50,000 volts through you."
Her scowl turned into a smirk. " What to test it to see if I'm lying?"
