Imperial Baron-Admiral
I am more honourable than thou!
The dsiscussion is rather invalid - -the United States has had presidents for generations that expanded against the sovereign Indian nations and took their land, made deals not to advance any more, then advanced anyway. Women were children, children killed, and a people slaughter. I am the first person to laud conquest, but I will not condone its undetaking and then those who lie about it. Invasions happen - live with it. I simply wish it would be done correctly.

Did the United States not also invade possessions of the Kingdom of Spain, ie Cuba and PR in 1898. Ah yes, and lest we forget the Phillipines or the American claim to a great swath of China.

Ah yes, and then there was the annexation of portions of Mexico after Texas rebelled against it. The United States has a history of interfering in the actions of sovereign nations but is the first to say stop when someone tries to do it to itself. Definition 0 hypocrisy.

But, Bush is by no means a good president. However, a relgiious zealot is marginally better than a man without a spine - -at least the zealot has an ideal and follows it be it wrong or not. The choices in that election were bad or worse - - imagine the state of things were Herr Kerry the Prasident.

I'm not sure Kerry would have been a bad President. At least he went and fought in the war, while Bush was sniffing cocaine and getting DUI's.

It's only a matter of time before we do. And then are forces will be spread way to thin and Canada will have a mass of new residents.

Not if you wanna get nuked.
Everyone knew there were no WMD's in Iraq, thats precisely why we invaded, lets call it what it is, an invasion. (say what you like about us Brits, but during the days of Imperial conquest when we invaded we were always pretty straight about it--'for the Empire and all that, rightly or wrongly lol)

North Korea, however, actually has WMD's, so no invasion unless you want to kick off world war 3.

I think if they knew things were headed in that direction, then they would use them.

North Korea would probably shoot their nukes at China more than US. Better chance at hitting something.

Heh, not hardly. Send in a few B-2s with some super bunker busters and destroy the facilities where their nuclear warheads are stored at. Station a few Patriots inside S.K. just in case they moved them.

We'll push those commi bastards back to the 38th parallel and then some!

(As soon as total victory in Iraq is achieved.)

Kim Jong has already said that he will resist any such sanctions imposed upon his country. His nation has the Tapeodong, an ICBM that makes your B-2 look like a paper airplane. So no, the UN and America in particular will be, as they say, staying the fuck out of North Korea for the forseeable future.

Besides, China is a whole new kettle of tea. The last three decades have seen to that, and we in the West depend on them almost as much as they do us.

I agree, I don't think NK has the capability to launch at the US, though they may give it a good darned try.
China has always been relatively sympathetic to the rogue state due to its own communist background, so I believe the biggest target would be Japan.

A western ally, which in the past has been at war with the Koreans, (very much still a very sore point).

I doubt that very much. That may have worked during the second world war, but not today.
Not only would they get destroyed before they even crossed the border, you would have to know the location of where said WMD's are.

Might I remind you were still trying to locate 'Iraq's hidden WMD's?'

Even years now after the invasion. (lets be honest they don't have any).

NK does, we know that for a fact.

I wouldn't be surprised if you had patriots in SK already, I'm not saying that NK couldn't be overcome, it could but at the expense of a nuclear fallout.

Kim Jong Ill, is a very shrewd and stubborn individual, he is quite an astute politician. I highly doubt he wants nuclear war, but instead wishes to negotiate. Negotiating with the threat of Nuclear warheads behind you, makes people take you a lot more seriously. You should know that, being American.

The country is closed off to the extreme , so Intell is mostly gathered from spy sattelites, which are not always accurate, just because something looks like a missile launch site doesn't mean it is.

Anyone remember Colin powell's very interesting presentation to the UN before the invasion of Iraq? Somehow I don't think those supposed 'sites' were actually either what they thought or painted them out to be.

Do not mistake NK as being some low tech, hick-ville backwards state, its a total military regime , where most of its funds or wealth gets funnelled straight back into the Military. Although there is drought, and standard of life is considered to be very poor, their military is not in bad shape (probably about the only thing that isn't).

The biggest threat I think to Kim, is a rebellion inside the country, but I can't see it happening anytime soon.

So , by doing what he's doing he gets the world to focus on him again, and he will try to get the US and the UN to pay for his people's food bill, whilst he spends all the money on weapons.
