In soviet Russia, writing time makes you!
No, actually, it doesn't make you at all. Writing just makes squiggly little lines in the general shape of "words," no matter where you happen to be. Fucker.

ironically, most of trf's current user base was born after the berlin wall fell.
I remember that. It was a happy day, I suppose, but a glum one. It's a strange feeling to know that you can never go home, not in the way it was... no matter how good or bad it was.

Blink If You Can Hear Me
I'm a bit behind right now, with 3,396 words. I can get back on pace by passing five thousand, which I hope to do, but it seems like on day three we are losing competitors like flies. My cousin apparently had a computer malfunction and is not going to continue. Vega's computer trouble have her off to a belated start. And Taja is a slacker and isn't going to bother. I hope Chau stays in, if only because having someone else there gives me a sense of competition and urgency. I don't want to be the only guy who came up short... if I'm the only guy who tried, then it's a different story.

I'm going in to get a replacement hard drive today, so hopefully I can start writing this weekend, or early next week at the latest.

The Slothful Padawan
I unfortunately got caught up at my Uncle's due to it being his birthday and have been unable as to put a good deal of a time in. I've got a co-writer (the DM of our campaign) because he's picky as Hell so I'm letting him do the Prologue to 'set the stage' as it were. And we still need to discuss on what we've got planned....

Also, what I do have written I'm probably just going to use as a guideline and re-write from the beginning this weekend. *sighs* But, with all the free time I have that I can't do anything but write, I should be able to catch up. After all, 50,000 words isn't too much.

*shrugs* It's your average college Essay. Nothing that a good solid bit of writing can't get done.

Blink If You Can Hear Me
I'm now offically WAY behind. Nanowrimo says that by the end of the weekend I should have 10,002 words done up... I'm at 5,238 at the moment. I took yesterday off to play Battlefront 2, forgetting I had planned to get slightly ahead during the week so I could take the weekends off to write some stuff for TRF. So no weekend off for me. Everyone who's waiting on a post will have to wait until mid-week, I imagine.

"And what exactly is wrong with the name Thumper?"
I'm staying in 'til the end, yeah. I'll make the rest of you all feel better by not doing any serious work until the 25th, and thus being horribly, horribly behind. But still in it.

What's your story about Ahnk? Chau? Jenjo?

My story is a weird re-working of Alice in Wonderland called A Boy Named Alice. Here are a few of the characters...

The Good...
Alec Little: A hero of circumstance, in the wrong place at the wrong time. (The novel is written primarily in the first person, from Alec's point of view).

Bill: affectionately known as 'the Lizard', for his leathery skin and beady eyes, Bill is one of the communities oldest living members. In spite of his age, he is always first to offer a helping hand and appears to have somehow avoided becoming the bitter old man most would expect him to be. He is known to dispense out pearls of wisdom to those seeking guidance.

The Bad...

The King and Queen: If you’re looking for the city’s centre of power, look no further. The aging nigh-dead King and his ruthless, gold-digging wife have a monopoly spreading far and wide. It’s no secret that ‘the Queen’ is the one wearing the trousers in this relationship. Step on her toes and be prepared to loose your head. They’ve got fingers in every pie and eyes on every street corner, with the infamous Red and Black gangs firmly under the Queens thumb.

The Reds and The Blacks: There are two prominent gangs in the city. The Reds, lead by Jack, are known for their sharp wit and charisma. The Blacks, lead by Ace, are known for their skill with any blunt object, particularly bats and shovels. More often than not, you can find them all in The Deck, a notorious poker club. Picture “West Side Story”, without the musical numbers. Unbeknownst to the gangs, the leaders of both the Reds and Blacks are funded by the Queen, who carefully manipulates their actions at every turn.

Leopold: Do you remember back in high school, that kid who no one talked to but everyone talked about? That was Leopold, the albino with a nervous twitch and a paranoid disposition. He's never seen wearing any less than five wrist watches - just in case. As an errand boy for the Queen, he’s learnt the consequences of being late. With an aversion to sunlight and apparent need to be on the go 24/7, he isn't the easiest character to get a hold of.

The Down-right Mad...

Felix: a hepcat and beatnik, Felix is a street poet with a predilection for the absurd. It seems his sole purpose and pleasure in life is to perplex the masses, a job which he does very well. You can never find him when you need him, but it’s a guarantee that he’ll turn up exactly when you don't.

Rattigan: a narcoleptic with the attention span of a goldfish. Ironically, when he is awake, he drinks like a fish. He is generally looked upon with a fair degree of sympathy, being that his current state is the result of a rather rough encounter with the Reds.
