You're status as a mother does not immediatly make you better than anyone else, and this "holier than though" attitude disturbs me.

*rolls eyes* You're assuming... I didn't say I was better than anyone. When did I say that? I'm just saying that if it was your kid you'd react in one way or another. None of you can say you wouldn't either because I'm pretty sure none or few of you have kids yet. You don't know what it's like to be a parent until you have a kid yourself, then you want to protect that child from the world. And the only reason why I'm pissed at everyone for telling me I'm the bad guy is because I did the right thing to defend my child's honor and ensure that the employee wouldn't do that to another customer.

And my boyfriend's reaction was the same thing.. He cares deeply for me AND our son. He held back from doing anything though, he let me handle it. Believe me, he was going to say something directly to the girl but I chose a much more diplomatic route(and what he was going to say was much worse than me hoping she gets fired). Would YOU let someone disrespect your girlfriend or your child?

Slaskia hit it right on the head. The woman clearly had a problem with this very young looking couple (I've only seen Heazure's pic however), with a brand new baby, handing over welfare checks.

But that gave her absolutely no right to say those things to Heazure, and I don't care if the lady's mother just died. You act professional at work, period. Especially in front of customers.

That said, had something similar happened to me, I probably wouldn't have gone to the manager over it.

You said if I had children I would react differently. To me, that means that you consider yourself better than people without children and thus justified to overreact.

The point of the matter is this: no harm was done to you or your child. What happened was simply a case of a rather unfriendly cashier. No grounds for her being fired. My father owns a retail store, so I know rather well that constitutes someone being fired. This alone does not.
