Do I need to find spots on the map for Korbin (where my character is) and Orlea (where he's from)?

No. The map is an optional tool, not a requirement.

I was just thinking - it looks like the map hasn't been updated in a while. It would seem to me as though the map needs to be updated on a regular basis, so...
If you all would like, I'll keep the map as updated as possible. However, I will need updates for planetary takeovers and a current planet list. I should be able to finish the map in a few days in that case and update it on a weekly, or at least bi-weekly, basis.

I think the planet's list is pretty up to date at the moment, so you should be okay there.
