Its a different thread. But its because we are talking about the military and despite the fact that the Canadian military is mimimal, we are proud of out military heritage and the fact we (in our opinions) beat the Americans in the War of 1812 but you guys won't admit it. And we like history (or at least I really do).
And to Marth's comment about 50% of the pop being recent American immigrants, it was more like 80% of the population of Upper Canada at that point had been Americans who only came to Upper Canada years after the American Revolution and then only for the promise of free land. Generally referred to as the "Late Loyalists". 20% of the population were from the original wave of Loyalists and were true loyalists.
As for the Battle of Queenston Heights, yes the Americans had militia involved in the invasion, but they also had many militia on the American side of the river refusing to cross to provide reinforcements to the first wave. We won that battle because we were able to get our reinforcements to the battle and the Americans couldn't. Well and the fact that the Americans couldn't solidify/strengthen their defensive position because 80 Mohawk warriors were fighting them geurilla style the entire time while they tried to dig themselves in around the gun they had captured. So the fact that they couldn't stop a group of 80 warriors doesn't say a whole lot from them. True it wasn't a straight up battle, but still, the American troops vastly outnumbered the Mohawks.
