Okay, so, Drayson will raise the point that neutrality is safer then Coalition membership to the Verpine, and use that logic to try and convince them to decline the Coalition? Makes sense. That is a reasonable request, and certainly I can see it would probably cause some form of debate in the Verpine as to the best course of action.

However, as things stand NOW, the Empire's done nothing but threaten the Verpine and push them around, so it's quite possible that at least until that offer is made, their alliegances would lie with the Coalition at least in the short term interest of not being fired upon by the Empire.

That means we might have to look ahead to the aftermath of this suggested development. The Verpine are highly communal, meaning that there is likely to be a decisive decision from them that will decide the issue for them as a whole. Since the Verpine have had a history of resisting the very Empire TNO claims to be the inheritors of, them siding with you seems as likely as the Mon Calamari doing so - i.e. not very much. They were willing to support the rebels in the past, and certainly the Coalition can offer greater safety then they could. I'm not trying to decide this issue before it has even been raised IC, or before anyone else gets their input (Milkshake, after the deal is raised would be a cool time to make an inspiring speech!) but just suggesting, beforehand, that the Verpine do have a history of throwing off the shackles of Empires and fighting for Truth, Justice, Liberty, and all that jazz - plus, atrocities against the Verpine drove them to rebellion before, and shooting at them could well drive them to war again. Think of this as a 'preliminary opinion', if you will.

In the interest of fairplay, I believe I have to disagree with you Dolash.

Demo is entirely correct in that you have no offical standing with which to dictate how the Verpine would act. Logic? Neither side has offered me contract, vulcan neck pinch logic in support of their position, just a bunch of "well..."'s.

I'm not prepared to surrender the Verpine to either side.

Demos, a quick check of the Planets List does not indicate the Roche Asteroid Belt as one of your offical holdings, meaning that they are not yours to roleplay either.

Dolash: thank you, also, for seeing my point of view. I agree entirely that at this moment the Verpine have no reason to want to support the Empire, and a good reason not to (we destroyed one of their houses). However, I think that the larger idea of safety stands, and thus they are open to other options.

With regards to the Verpine in the past: I could be wrong, but I do not believe the Verpine people as a whole offered their support to the Rebellion. It was a matter of personal choice, many of them just happened to choose to help the rebels. I don't think that example is terribly apt, though, because at the time a) the Verpine presence in the Rebellion was too small for the Empire to notice, and b) the Empire probably did not know where the Verpine made their home anyway.

This time, the Empire is focused on the Verpine exclusively - if we decide we need to crush them, we have the knowledge, the means, and the desire. I think they would know this, too.

IC, TNO doesn't care if Roche "joins them" as long as it's kept our of GC hands. So they would station a fleet there and establish a base, though they might not consider it "conquerer territory".

OOC, that doesn't make much sense though, so I suppose it would be logical for me to say that (for OOC purposes) TNO is also trying to get Roche to "join" it.

IC, Trinity is attempting to have the Verpine declare neutrality and allow the Empire leave to use the system.

Any thouhts for an OOC settlement?
