It had taken Ben just over a full week to get his ship operational. He could have asked for help and been ready in a fraction of the time, but loved the work. He also knew that the experience would come in handy. Why get other people to do things for you, when you have the time to do it for yourself, Ben thought. There was really no place for him to go anymore he was a free man.
With the orders from Stellar Enterprises carried out completely, Ben was on his own. He could do what he wished and the ship was now his. Sure it was a mess, but it was still his and that was all that mattered to him. In time Ben knew he could make some money to eventually get completely overhauled, perhaps even make it a home.
The work he had had to accomplish was quite challenging. The damage done to his ship was much worse than he had first realized and Ben was amazed that the old girl even held up. Along with the fried circuit boards and breakers, some of the engines had actually misaligned after their mounts snapped from the hard reentry into normal space. That wasn't it, however, as well. A part of the ships hull had actually been stressed to the point of fracturing.
Ben might have easily missed that if it hadn't been for a kind old merchant captain that he had met in one of the restaurants. After hearing of Ben's emergence, the man had informed him that some models of those ships were known to develop fractures in certain area's. Sure enough, after a quick inspection, Ben found fractures in one of these spots.
Now, finally, after everything was fixed and done with, Ben could officially relax and get a full nights sleep without much worry. The only question on his mind as he slept was were to go from here. The galaxy was open to him now and there were so many worlds to choose from. Which one was the right one to start off one though.
As he slept, however, the dreams were almost moving towards a single planet and a place in ruins. This world flashed in his mind as a beacon, in the dream he was drawn to it, it was calling out. It could see flashes, still images of a woman, walking around rubble. The rubble seemed to be from a former city, one was almost no more.
Visions and images of battle came to his mind, lightsabers blazing, hitting each other. It was his face he could see, as well as the woman, and also another male. He did not know these people, but they were there in his dream. Was that his destiny? Did he have to do that? Was this the place he must go there? Ben had to decide when he awoke.
