As far as I can recall (it was a few years ago now) Helen Clark only disbanded the combat wing of our airforce. And, to be perfectly honest, they were a load of crap. We had like one squadron of Skyhawk jets and that was it.
(They were so shit, in fact, that we've only just managed to sell them - to an American training school - after being on the open market for over four years)
