I saw it, and I thought it was a very good film.
The action is impressive and exciting, and the plot is filled with the human story of friendship. Some of the best acting is delivered by the kid playing the one who gets his arm amputated.
Admittedly, it is another Russel Crowe action movie in the vein of Gladiator, with that whole male comradery thing thrown in. You need a penis to appreciate this movie, no doubt about it. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. Dare I remind the world that there is a HUGE market for movies that only women can appreciate, but no one gets pissy about those.
In the end, it wasn't an exercise in chauvinism, just testosterone-soaked action. Which means it's all okay.
