I love cats. We had two but when I got pregnant we sent them back to where we got them. We only had them for two weeks.
They're bad around pregnant women cuz of their litter box, and bad around babies cuz a lot of them smell the milk on the baby's breath and will try to get to it resulting in suffocation. That or they scratch.

If that's the case with cats, you need to take greater care in separating the cats from the babies, its really not that hard.
However, personally, I think it's not the greatest of plans to have a pet with a young child in the house at all, at least not until the kid is about five.

LOL Easier said than done. Cats see a door, they know they're not allowed in, they make a beeline for it once it's open. My old cat Snowflake got into my room once so fast that I didn't even know she got in. She was locked in all day when I left. Ended up killing my beta fighting fish.
And it's true about the cat. My mom's ex husband had a siamese that would sit on my sister's face constantly because she was warm and smelled like milk.
