What about the ability to "take" trade routes? Put 10 000 words into building a trade route, and it gets added to the Planet's list with a date beside it. Then, it can mantain X number of meters per month, which more being added as time goes on. This number would be publically tracked on the group's forum...

And of course, a blockade of more than X IC days would render ALL meters supported by that trade route useless for a one-month duration (essentially meaning the group loses its bonus for that OOC month). Perhaps such a blockade could also have affects on groups' army strength and fleet deployment... *shrug*

It's probably not the best idea, but on first thought it seems to work, and seems simple enough to be implimented without TOO much trouble. Personally, I think it would be worth it in order to introduce blockades, sieges, and such to RP. And I think a tracking script for this would be fairily simple to design.

Regardless, I think a trade system is certainly worthy of further consideration...

Yeah I like Isstal's idea. Only, instead of the trade corridor giving the meterage, the value of the planet's it connects to have an increased value in meterage.

The point of a trade route is to connent multiple planets... that's what makes them trade routes, not just hyperlanes.

Unless of course you have two planets that ship a huge ammount of material back and forth... i.e. Talus might ship steel to Corellia, Corellia builds stuff, and ships it back...

or your entire group is gathered around a single territory whos interconnections are covered at length in various books and roleplays...

That argument can be made for ANY group. This would be specific to specific, RP established trade routes.

Hapes and BDE started a dual takeover of an entire trade route that ran along both our territories quite some time ago...

Uh-huh... and TNO took the major planets along some other trade route, too....

New idea! Take a certain number of planets within a certain trade route or area of space, and each planet therein gets a meterage boost of some ammount... this would also encourage "true" Empire building, taking worlds in a smaller area of space instead of spread halfway across the galaxy.

Well the latest idea would mean that Grevious could rest his hands for a little while the BDE shipyards caught up.

Hell yeah, BDE's biggest period of realism is in the fact that its a group structured around a single area of space...
