Dynamics, expression, eg: emotion. The computer plays what you tell it, you play how you feel. If you're passionate about the piece, it will show in your playing.

I am far from stupid, what I am however is someone who does regular part time work as a sound technican, who is and has been a musician for years and spends near enough his every spare waking hour immersed in and around both live and computerized music to know what the differences are.

Fact is, in the format you are using, the notes are queued in line, and played one after the other and do not play polyphonicly with one another. Therefore, a slight breakdown in the time and quality of the piece is created.

This is hardly noticeable but can be distinguished by a trained ear such as myself.

I was just offering a friendly note to you that its often a good idea, if your dabbling around in computerised music, to invest in a tool that might aid you along in furthering and widening your avenues through the comp. Programmes like that become so much more accessible when you have something better to input your stuff into.

Sure, Kas, if you manage to get a program that plays dynamics and such, and are patient and skillful enough to transfer your feelings into written things. Then yes. However, most people cant/dont do that.

I plan on recording myself playing the two parts of a cello or cello/bass duet. Just for the heck of it. :)

No Ren, let me correct you, you were trying to prove to everyone just what a super-smart genius you are. Bravo; you have uncovered the secret limitations of my demo copy of Fruity Loops, twelve dollar microphone and freeware recording program.

Good,I know my @#%$, let it be known.

I like to try and better my skils, I take a lot of pleasure in striving to improve my music and god forbid that I ever try to offer some friendly advice in order to do the same for someone.

When is it not possible to hit a nerve with you.

Being a nerd, like unassisted masturbation, it comes naturally.

I used to have a cool program where you could record two guitar parts, a drum loop, and a piano/brass part.

I lost it.

What program actually lets you create your own music? can it be downloaded?

Sheesh Gash, don't get so uptight. You yourself said that the program is but a simple way to quickly throw something together, it's no substitute for the real deal.

Ren, being a musician, simply offered you some advice as to how to do these better for relatively little money.
