For the record, I brought that up with Gue, and he said that he disabled the facing section of shield. So it's 1/2 or quartered, depending on the size of your vessel.

Also note that tractor beams aren't very acurate, they will have problems with catching speedy craft - especially a 155 MGLT-moving Tie Defender. So you can't, within reason, catch the Tie Defenders in tractor beams.
Numerous instances of the Falcon dodging tractors, or trying to do as such back this up.
the Tie Defender would simply continue on it's path, gradually slowing down.
For the sake of this discussion, a dead TiE Defender would never slow down.

then obviously Ive thought of Tractor beams wrongly, I had assumed they were a wide brim array grabing at a large array with, not just a single beam.
When I stated my beams would grab at the TIE's I had pictured them grabing at multiple TIEs in milisecond bursts repeatedly. Accross my entire formation I thought this would be able potentially stop a great many TIE's altogether.

You ship (Reaper) was projecting the beams in a 185 degree angle. But the thing is, it was still just projecting them infront of it. It never turned to shoot down. So my fighters and missiles wouldn't have been damaged(since they attacked from below).

185 degrees would be the entire front arch and a very little off the bottom sides. Lets say that would hit your worst pilots unable to come beneath that, and then add in those who would bae able to be struck by any other vessel in the formation...
