The Rebel Faction

After a few minutes, Ky-Vin and Kenshin left the ship.

They headed down into the canyon. There were rocky ledges carved into the canyon walls. Ky-Vin and Kenshin made their onto one of these ledges. It was very steep and the rocks crumbled beneath their feets.
Ky-Vin stopped to look over the edge. The bottom of the canyon was a long way down. Small pools of water dotted the canyon floor. He guessed there were great rivers passing through here at one time.

They moved onwards. Often there were obstacles in their path. Rocky outcroppings that had to be climbed over. Vertical faces that needed to be scaled when the ledge they walked on suddenly ended.
Soon the two Jedi came across another.
Their narrow path against the canyon wall was sloping downards, and then it just dropped off into a kind of fissure. The gap was more than a few meters wide.

Ky-Vin and Kenshin looked at each other. "It looks like we're going to have to jump over this one.." he said.

Ky-Vin looked at the distance between the ledges. It was too far for them to jump over normally. But the aid of the Force should make it easy enough.

"Alright, be careful." Ky-Vin told Kenshin. Then he moved back a ways to let Kenshin go first.

Ky-Vin nodded. "I'll try."

Like Kenshin, he moved back a few paces to give him a running start. He drew upon the Force to power his feet, his ankles, his legs. Ky-Vin ran and leapt, concentrating the Force into propelling his body into the air and across the distance.
He tried to buffer his landing as Kenshin had done, but wasn't as successful so he rolled forward as he his legs hit the ground. Ky-Vin didn't absorb as much impact that way, but when he rolled forward he crashed into Kenshin.
They nearly toppled over the edge, but the two padawans regained their balance and managed to steady themselves.

Ky-Vin laughed a little. "Sorry about that," he said sincerely.

Ky-Vin smiled and nodded. "Thanks," he said. He appreciated Kenshin's help.

The two padawans moved onward through the crumbling crags that were the Tiernavel mountains. It was like an impossible maze, but Ky-Vin had a good idea how to retrace their steps and get back to the ship.
At certain spots, Ky-Vin or Kenshin would carve a letter "J" (for Jedi of course) with their lightsaber into a large boulder or rock face.

The day had gone on like this, and by evening they path they had taken had lead them away from the canyone they had first explored. Soon they were following the slope down into a shallow ravine. The mountain peaks towered high above them on either side.
"It is beautiful here," Ky-Vin said aloud. He was gazing up at the patterns water had carved into the rocks long ago. "Harsh, but beautiful."

They were following the slow trickle of water at the bottom of this ravine for an hour or so when Ky-Vin began to get a funny feeling.
He wasn't particularly focusing on the Force or his senses, but a sense of dread and danger kept growing and growing.
At first, Ky-Vin ignored it. He was worried it might be due to his brush with the dark side back at the obelisk.

When it had begun to get dark, the feelings got stronger still. The strong emotions Ky-Vin was sensing were...angry, malicious...evil. They weren't come from Kenshin, that was for sure. And he seemed alright, if a little tense.
He watched the surrounding ledges and outcroppings. Where were they coming from?

Ky-Vin knew Kenshin had to sense them as well. "Do you feel that?" he asked.

Ky-Vin nodded, frowning.
"There has to be...it feels like..." He was going to say it felt like the same things trapped within the lake, and in the obelisk, but his voice trailed off.
"I mean, it is possible these mountains are like Lake Natth...but that doesn't seem right. And we didn't sense it right away either.."

It was getting darker. The clouds had cleared a little at least, and the temperature had dropped somewhat. Two of Ambria's moons could be seen in the dimming sky. Besides that unshakeable feeling that something was not right, it was rather pleasant outside.
Ky-Vin wasn't sure what they should do. On the one hand, they could use the rest. On the other hand, there was that dark presence. Would it follow them if they kept on going? There was no way to tell.
"Do you think we should rest here tonight?" he asked.
