Well, technically I'm getting married too.
In the Navy you get an extra $700 a month and an extra $200 for separation pay when I go out to sea, plus all the other benefits that come with marriage. Being as broke as I am, needing a car, and wanting to move out of the barracks and into an apartment, getting married starts to sound pretty good.
So when I go home in May on leave I'm getting married to my girlfriend of two years. We don't consider it a real marriage, more of an engagement of sorts, an engagement that brings in some extra dough. She gets $300 a month plus medical and health care, I get cash money bling. She won't even be moving down here as she's got a job and needs to finish up her degree. No ring (just yet). Not even telling my parents as I know they would completely frown upon the idea. Which most people with any sort of morals would, I suppose. Good thing I'm not burdened by those.
If things work out maybe in a year or two I'll move her down here, and if we're still together by the time I get out, perhaps I'll get a ring, propose, have a wedding, etc. Long ways off though.
Go ahead and shun me. I care not, for I am now hundreds of dollars a month richer.
