It was as though Amalia were a child...and this time, instead of her protecting and comforting him, he would have to protect and comfort her. It was a reversal of roles, one that had not happened before, not on this sort of scale. But the thought of running away or refusing to help never entered Kahn's mind.
To a point, he could identify with Amalia's feelings. They reflected, on a larger scale, what he had felt when he came back to the Academy all those times when he had fallen to Darkness. But he hadn't been shunned, hadn't been whispered about. He had only been accepted again, as the prodigal son was in old writings. And that had meant the world to Kahn.
He wasn't sure if it would be exactly the same for Amalia, but in his heart he vowed not to ever give up on her.
Using the Force channel Amalia had opened to communicate with her, the Jedi Master's blue eyes never left Amalia's.
You don't have to go anywhere you don't want to, Amalia.
There was a sort of comfort in the Jedi's inner voice, meant to soothe Amalia's inner demons.
Don't worry about Leia, Amalia. I can't speak for her, or her actions but....I won't ever turn away from you, I won't ever push you away....if that means anything.
The Jedi Master had had little interaction with Organa Solo, and he didn't know her all that well; he had been aware that the relationship between Amalia and her Master was hitting rough patches, but didn't know it had gotten this bad.
However, there was one aspect Kahn felt sure of when he answered her.
You never let me down, never. You're the one who saved me, Amalia. All those times when I did waver, you accepted me back; you didn't push me away. I would have fallen back into Darkness the first time I wavered, Master, but the fact is that I didn't, because of you. You didn't cause me to waiver; that was the Dark Side at work. You did give me the strength to fight it, so that I never entirely was lost again.
Your Padawans will accept you Master; they just need some time. Have faith.
There was that fear again, fear that Kahn felt through their bond.
Can you make it to my home? We'll be safe there, I promise.
