didn't a group idea of the Dathomir witches just get shot down because Vance has that wrapped up? Or maybe I just got confused why that idea died...

Well, it was definitely a major factor.

They were permitted to do their thing as long as when TSO come to Dathomir, they would take them into their faction later. Nothing ever got started though.

...so, really, you haven't come to me first with the thought.
I thought we lost this idea in the bin of (in)creativity. None-the-less, I will state it for all, once again, as I have:
- TSO will be taking over this planet.
- All your base belong to us.
- Just wait until we do that takeover, and introduce any specific Witch characters there and then, at which point you can come to the Sith side.
This, all in all, remains the easiest solution.
Unless, of course, if you wish to create a faction of Witches, then you can, but I won't be changing TSO plans unless it's for a good reason - and by good reason, I mean I expect any faction that sprouts from this idea to be worth changing my interests with my already established faction.
Otherwise: love your work.

Incorrect. The above proposal was agreed upon by Vance and another party. They have yet to act upon this proposal. Should we sit on our hands and wait while TSO gets its ass around to taking the planet? No, we shouldn't.
If Ishara and Co (considering the interest and that, under the old school, they have met all the requirements) wish to proceed with this Dathomir idea; I have no objections.
I love you Vance, but I can't vouche for sitting on a planet and a faction when we have new, active and interested members who want to take up the mantle. My trepedation in the previous discussion was due, in large part, to those proporting the idea. In this case, however; I am fully inclined to let Ishara run with this.
And what with the staggering activity level of TSO of late, I'm even more inclined to promote Ishara and Co under this new banner. Can you provide a sound and just argument against this? Can the previous parties involved?
I have, as it sits, zero objection to the manifestation of this Faction.
If, down the road, TSO wishes to cease Dathomir; that can be negotiated or it can be fought over (both, I would hope, In Character). Does TSO have any claim to Dathomir as of yet? Imo, not really; TSO simply has an idea of what it wants to do but, and this is key, we have yet to see any motion.
