“Sanhedrim Ship
this is the typical Aing-Tii starship design. Referred to sometimes as pilgrimage vessels, the Sanhedrim ships are huge, cylindrical craft which are very organic in design. Like the Mon Calamari star cruisers, no two Sanhedrim ships are exactly alike. They are unlike anything seen or produced by the rest of the galaxy, with engines, thrusters, and weapons sprouting at weird angles and placements. The hulls of Sanhedrim ships are covered with millions of glyphs and sigils that mirror those found on the bony plates of the Aing-Tii themselves. The ships average about 300 meters in length, and have a crew of 150 plus 66 gunners. Typical Sanhedrim ships are armed with the unusual Aing-Tii weaponry, often 30 energy web generators and 6 null-burst projectors. Sanhedrim ships are often well-shielded, and are hyperdrive-equipped. However, instead of a slip of pseudomotion before entering hyperspace, the Aing-Tii ships simply disappear. They reappear just as suddenly, as if they were created in their new location. Rather than direct fighting, the Aing-Tii often use these ships as battering rams, seriously disabling the slave ships they hunt.”
In transit to one of the Training frigates Vonta is engrossed in the joy of piloting again. The Modular fighter was fast as well as agile enough for her to become quite creative in her acobatics.
Putting the ship through cork screws and tight turns that would push many seasoned pilots into unconsciousness due to the G-forces excerted on the body.
All at once she feels a familiar touch on her mind.
“Greetings Observer Horn.” It was a telepathic communication that was, in her mind’s eye, the strangely familiar voice of a female.
Immediately Vonta recognized it. It was the mental voice of her Aing-Tii Counsilor the one that defended her before the Ten.
“Counsilor?” Vonta answered questioningly back telepathically.
“Yes…I would kindly ask you to inform your system that they are about to have one of our vessels arrive in your system. In the likely hood of avoiding a misunderstanding please state our intentions as friends.” There was no further explanation just a straight forward statement. Typical Aing-Tii as far as Vonta’s experience is concerned.
Out of Nowhere a frigate sized ship appeared in the system. It was 300 meters long from end to end. It looked about as alien to Vonta Horn as any thing that she had ever seen in her life. With the exception of the vong technology that was reported from the Vinda Corperation’s contact reports on their technology. Emplacments sprang from all parts of the ship. Some, Vonta could see, were engines. Others were undefined because of their alien look to them. She guessed that they were gun emplacements. She Heard the Radio chatter going into high-alert.
She immediately contacted the nearing training frigate.
“This is Vonta Horn to Observer Training vessel.” She waited for a reply.
The ship was turning about. The training vessels were meant for exploration and training force users. Not for combat. They were to avoid Combat if at all possible.
It took a moment before responding. “This is the captain of the Training vessels Professor Horn. We are preparing to tracter you in and make a retreat as is procedure.”
“Never mind that Captain.” She states. Talking in a commanding voice. “Send a message to the Alderaanian guard and tell them that the shlip is a friendly. Do not engage! I repeat! Do not engage!”
“Complying sir.” There was several seconds of pause. The Communications were running through the chain of command with all due speed. A stand down order goes out to all fleet forces.
“Sir the message has been relayed. Do you require pick-up?” The captain inquires.
“Yes. Prepare one of the Hyper shuttles for transport. Disgression is needed here. Professor Horn Out.” She did not wait for an acknowledgment before cutting the communications. She was troubled. She had expected to hear back from the Aing-Tii At some point. But not this soon.
Something was wrong and she needed to find out what it was.
* * *
A Hyper shuttle was prepared for departure once Vonta had landed her fighter in the Training frigate.
The Hyper shuttle was referred to as such because of the fact that it had been stripped of most of the internal amenities in favor of making room for a Hyper Portal Mk II.
She went to the shuttle without waiting to speak too anyone. She commanded the Captain to send word to the leading members of each of the Force sects and too Director sabreen. The Teras Kasi may need to lend an ear as well.
She piloted the shuttle with only a portal technition as her co-pilot. The techs were the guards for the portals as well as their operators. This particular tech was in charge of the Hyper shuttle that she was in.
“Observer please Dock at our port.” The female voice states.
Vonta answers in a question.
“Your port being where counsilor. Your ship is not quite what I or my ships computors am used too.”
“Of course. It is in the under belly of the ship behind the bottom most thruster.” Vonta saw where she had indicated on the ship. She lined up her docking port to theirs and connected with ease, the ease was in fact surprising because of the alien nature of this ship.
Vonta gives the Tech to stay on board to received persons via Hyper portal.
Through the portal Vonta’s senses were filled with familiar sensations. Smells sounds, and sights that were just like those that she had experienced on another such vessel. Then she was on trial. Now…
Well, she could only guess what would be required of her.
Several Aing-tii stood at the hatch. They were rigid as stones, more then likely they were the guards. But she felt no danger from them. Behind them stood one Aing-tii that Vonta expected to see. The counsilor from her trial. The Aing-tii them selves were more akin in looks to bipedal creatures common on most planets. But this belied their advanced nature.
“As I said Observer Jedi, we would meet again.” The actual language was a series of clicks and chirps but Vonta heard that familiar female voice in her head as clear as anything.
* * *
Vonta and the Female Aing-Tii that she only Knew as 'Counsilor', what equated to a lawyer in the Aing-Tii’s ruling Council of Ten.
“Before we do anything else I believe that you owe me the pleasure of your name ‘Counsilor’.” She repeated the only name that she knew the female by. She spoke rather then use telepathy. It felt more natural and appropriate to Vonta.
“Yes, that is right I never need give you my Name.” The ‘Cousilor’ looked away for a moment to ponder the question a moment before she answers, “
My name is unpronounceable in your tongue of Basic. But you May refer to me as Talis.”
The Pair walk through the corridors of the ship on their way to some location.
Vonta wants to question this but is hesitant to do so. The Aing-Tii came here for a reason and she was not sure if she wanted to know the answer until she was given it.
The arrive in a room filled with Ten Holo pads.
Ten Holo-pads. Council ten perhaps?
Sure enough a moment after the doors close behind Vonta and Talis the pads come to life with the holographic visages of the Ten Aing-Tii that she had been set before previously.
Talis moves in front.
“I present once again Obsever Jedi Vonta Horn Before the Council of Ten.”
The Eldest of the group speaks up first. His long beard passes the limits of the holo-pad as if it were cut off.
“Observer Horn. Last time you met with us was to judge your worth as a Force user.” He made the clicks and chirps of his language but his telepathic voice was clear and sure. With a deep Tener to it that was musical and mesmerizing.
“Today,” He continues, “
You face our number out of a beckoning of the force it self.”
Vonta was curious at this proclaimation. She had been feeling that she was on her way to a major change but she had not felt a beckoning of the force to seek out the Aing-Tii. Perhaps she would not seeing as the Aing-Tii’s understanding of the force was quite alien to her own. They saw and felt something that she could not.
“Until it is known what part you have to play in the coming days we shall see to it that you are made our ally. Your ‘Cousilor’.” The said ‘Counsilor’ interrupts briefly.
“
Heretoforth known as Talis in the Observers Presence Sir.” She Bow in respectful apology for the interruption.
“Talis,” The Elder continued, “
Shall be your guide to our world. See to her education and safty Talis and Good Journey to you.”
He finishes then the member of the Ten that had not wanted Vonta to continue was still among this group. Although he said nothing Vonta felt his dissatisfaction with this action as well. She had to watch him closely.
With that the Holograms faded and the doors to the Room opened again.
“You should be Honored Observer. You are one of the first out siders in a long while to interest our number so.” Talis regaled to vonta.
“So just what is this education entailing then?” She asked questioningly.
“You are to learn of our race. Just as your new Observer Order mandates you too. Learn out ways. Our philosophies, technology, history, everything. But only with the understanding that only those of your Order are to learn any of this.” She finishes with a statement of fact as always.
“Of course, so I take it that we shall be traveling then.” She got the feeling in the force more then anything.
“As a matter of fact, yes. We are to journey to the Kathol region with several of your vessels. First to our outpost on Exocron and then to visit the home world in the Kathol Rift where we live and where we construct our vessels.” Vonta stops dead in her tracts at the mention of travel through the Rift while Talis continues on only relizing a moment later that she was walking along,
“Is there a problem Observer?”
Vonta fights back her surprise the Kathol Rift was one of the most dangerous places in the universe for space navigation. She would rather go through the Maw then through the Kathol Rift.
“Ah you worry about the Rift’s dangers, have no worries our Race can navigate the rift with ease. As well as guide your ships with us.” She reassured Vonta.
“Sorry, I trust you. That was just an old pilots reaction. I have heard many storys about ships that entered the rift never to return. Studies on the rift indicate that it is un-navigatable.” She finishes shaking off her lapse of emotion.
“Do you have vessels that can travel with your Order?” She inquires with yet another question. Probing into what vonta’s capabilities are in terms of technology.
“We have several vessels meant for exploration and training of our order as well as support vessels for the defense of those vessels. I well need to bring the heads of my order’s to meet with us first of course.” She makes her words a questioning statement as seems to be the way of the Aing-tii.
“Yes, you may contact your number to invite them to join us.” Talis answers.
“I well send for them. But they well arrived by Hyper Portal on the shuttle.” Vonta states.
The Bipedal Aing-tii tilts her head questioningly.
“Hyper Portal?” She is not familiar with the device.
“An adaption of Gree Hyper gates. We can use them to make matter transportation through hyperspace via the gates. A form of teleportation with hyper drive as it were.” Vonta finishes her explaination.
“Perhaps we do have more to learn from one another then we originally thought Observer.” Talis answers in a though communication of pleasant surprise.
* * *
Shortly the members of the Observer Order had ‘Portaled’ (A word to describe Hyper Portal travel) over to the Hyper Shuttle docked with the Aing-tii Vessel that Vonta found was called a Sanhedrim.
Before anything else in the interest of trade of knowledge the Aing-Tii agreed to give one of these ships to the order to study. The Aing-Tii were officially Joining the Observer Order. The Aing-tii on this ship well pilot it as well as study the technologies used by the Order as well as the Imperial tactics that the imperials may use.
Talis indicates that Imperials have increasingly been encroaching into the Kathol region. The Ten indicate that they should try to avoid any contact with foreigners until they can decypher what their intentions are. The Aing-tii go after pirates and slavers. A new government they may have no problem with. Governments come and go. But Pirates are a constant.
No, Aing-Tii are to attack Imperials unless stated otherwise. By order of the Council of Ten.
