I would agrue that the War of 1812 was a tie. While British Commonwealth members can agrue that they burned Washington and defeated the American invasion of Canada, the reverse can also be said.
The Americans did defeat the various British invasions of America and incidentally, burned down the Canadian Parliament building. In fact, the British burned down the Capitol as an act of revenge for the American's burning down the Canadian parliament.
I admit to being more a naval man, and I think the naval war is one of the more fascinating episodes of the war. For example, when was the last time the Canadian and American navies duked it out...on Lake Erie?
