You Canadians better watch out, because if Bush keeps going the way he's going you might end up with this problem too (and I sure as hell am not talking about Mexicans...)

So thanks, Kach - you killed David Carradine!

"NIF. But I will find them! I am god like that." Kach Thorton speaks up.

Actually, Bush is the one that wants to make the immigrants U.S. citizens. The democrats are the ones that want to expel them.

And Irtar....

And we'll kick the British ass twice.

And they ran from New Orleans, ran ran ran!!!
And the British won't admit it!

Irtar, I have that song on my computer/iPod. Good choice of music.

Park, whatever, we're Canadians not British. And both are technically correct. And sometime we'll debate the War of 1812/who won or lost in another thread. But seeing as you declared war on us and tried to invade us, I'd say we won cause we successfully defended our territory. But yeah, both sides had their success and failures.

It's more the fact that no one admits that we successfully DID take Washington. EVERYONE knows New Orleans. Out of most of the Americans I've talked to, they know where they've won but never where there's been defeat.

After all, Vietnam was a tie ;)

You also have to take into account that the Civil War was a much more drawn out issue than this. For years there had been conflict between the south and the north states. Every time a new state joined the Union there was a big controversy whether or not it should be a slave state or not because it might upset the balance of power. Slavery was in my opinion maybe only half the reason of the civil war. It's just the one that's most commonly cited.

And the British/Canadians so did win the War of 1812. New Orleans was after the war was over so you can't count it.

Wow, talk about a conversation shift.

I would agrue that the War of 1812 was a tie. While British Commonwealth members can agrue that they burned Washington and defeated the American invasion of Canada, the reverse can also be said.

The Americans did defeat the various British invasions of America and incidentally, burned down the Canadian Parliament building. In fact, the British burned down the Capitol as an act of revenge for the American's burning down the Canadian parliament.

I admit to being more a naval man, and I think the naval war is one of the more fascinating episodes of the war. For example, when was the last time the Canadian and American navies duked it out...on Lake Erie?
