Well then it would have to be before he fell into the Sarlacc pit wouldn't it? Or you could cook up a clone conspiracy thing where when he was doing stuff for the Empire, Vader took some of his D.N.A. while he was pulling an overnighter on the Executor, and tried to make a more loyal version of the deadly bounty hunter.
