I hate being under the parent's roof, especially having been out of home and independent for 2+ years. One would think they wouldn't try to enforce their rules on you again, as long as you didn't disturb them.
So long as you're not disturbing people who gives a whip what you're up to at night? If I was in your situation and me mumsy did that to me I'd have a sit-down and explain the facts of life to her. Like, how I could be making money rather than taking a month of downtime to help her out, and how she could be paying a contractor $30+ an hour to do what I was doing and have him take far longer because he is sure as heck not going to be pulling twelve hour days.
Meh. That's just me though. I certainly wouldn't donate a month of twelve hour days only to be treated as a child again.

What are they paying you though... ?

Some would argue that the gift of life is enough. Each situation is unique, however; and I'm running short of blankets.

I say you should follow your instincts.

Hey, just checking in guys!

Things are progressing well, save for a freak mini-storm that tore through our area where we are building. Unfortunately the walls we laid that day were blown down, two in total, and several windows [of various sizes] placed in those walls were smashed... sadness, over two thousand [roughly] bricks lost.

Parents seem to have lightened up, which is good; they've found out that as long as I can work, they shouldn't care how I spend my time. Had a showdown with the younger brother [being the tender age of 16, he feels invincible, and thus can pick fights with older brother], but that ended well enough and I laid the smack down through conversation as opposed to knocking his fat ass down, heh.

As for payment... I'm getting, uh, housing and life needs supplied, I suppose. But, to be technical, I'm on about $7 an hour [which is the standard 'apprentice' wage here], but I tend to get money if I need something, etc, etc.

Birthday is in 10 days [according to my time, which is generally a day ahead], so I'm looking forward to that. After that, I'm here until the Christmas season has passed, and should be returning home around the first few days of Janurary... if things go according to plan. =)

So... in case I don't see you all before hand: Have a merry Christmas and a Happy new year! Best wishes to you all.

See you soon!
