As the slicers started to attack the system, the shield generators and planetary ion cannons were destroyed. However, do to their location, they caused no damage to the floating cities they were positioned on. Sovereignty technicians had made sure to protect the civilians on Bespin.
At the same moment the fleet jumped into hyperspace, including the 24 TIE Defenders and the transports. Their retreat was successful.
