"What is it, lieutenant?"
To much triumph, the cruiser was alas removed from the picture. Lucius grinned to the inferior ability of the enemy. Only fools would dare to take on the imperial fleet, relying on a single vessel. Luckily for him, Lucius combined the brute force of his star destroyer with the effort of his fellow warships. One less thing to worry about, and now the ground invasion would be in full effect.
"One of our cruisers have just taken in on board enemy troopers. Orders, sir?"
It was not on his agenda to play the role of both sides of the field that particular battle. He feared the worse. Should the small platoon seize control of their cruiser, it could mean huge losses. Rather than unleash turbo laser fire on his own ship, Lucius instructed the captain to pull all on board personal to the breech point and eliminate the intruders. They may siphon the oxygen from ship compartments containing the prisoners as a last resort.
"Why involve ourselves with these ships, when our main objective is to rid this planet of its military defense and annex it into the empire?", he questioned himself.
There was not a doubt in his mind, they could overcome this nuisance of a foe. But the debate was whether to send our ships into battle against their escorts and frigate or redeploy to the main objective. Without the Coalition in the way, Dubrillion was already as good as theirs. The warships provided excellent support to the ISD while, as a combined effort laid heavy fire to the cruiser. It would not be long before it was nothing but a desecrated pile of burning debree.
"Lieutenant, send word immediately to the Coalition flag ship and request a cease fire. We will allow them to continue evacuating civilians, as long as they do not interfere with our engagement with the Dubrillion defense."
Alas, the effects of the nicotine injection began to ease. The captain could see things in a much brighter light now, and foremost, bring a end to this struggle once and for all.
The Advocate came to a slow halt, and disengaged its shields for the final attack. The last of the ground units were released. Their commitment was to their captain, whom made it the field commander's goal to eliminate any and all opposition. Lucius could taste the sweet nectar victory already, but it remained just out of reaching distance.
"It's been quite too long...on the edge of defeat, not a single word from their president. I want a up to date report every few minute's of the progress below."
"It will be done."
