To answer the question, a large reason the Vong were allowed to progress so far was because of the political infighting and seperate agendas of the ruling council of the New Republic. Since the Emperor was the end all in Imperial policy, that never would have happened. The Vong would have been stopped almost immediatly, and the Emperor would have asked Simon Kaine to write it up as a lesson to would-be rebels of what happens when you cross the Emperor.

I dont have a reading disorder idiot. I said the Empire was whiped out because there was only remains of it left when the vong invaded from what I read in that link. And if the emperor was still in power when the vong invaded i dont think the empire would of held up against them.
