Bounty Hunter
Yes. He climbed out of the sarlacc after "@#%$" himself and the creature up with a detonation. Then, along came Dengar and rescued him... The two, plus Dengars love-muffin, ran amuck of the galaxy, did a few hunts together then all three retired.
It is interesting to note that of all the villains of the Star Wars Universe, Expanded or Cannon, he was among the very few who never "got it in the end".
Supposedly he is still alive into the New Jedi Order Era, though likely rather old and quite wealthy... (and perhaps cloned)... Unless you subscribe to that "What If" theory in which Boba Fett and Vader face off, mono to mono...

But yeah, back to the question at hand...

I quite liked the introduction of medichlorians as a rationale for the force. It also functions to define why some species are Force-Blind, like the Ssi-Ruu, or Force-Null, like the Yuuzhan Vong. Compared with the other drastic alterations Lucas made to the Star Wars Expanded Universe with his prequel movies, the medichlorians don't even measure.

The light cast on Boba Fett and Jango Fett was a selling point of the movie as far as I'm concerned. I'm glad for it for so many reasons I won't even begin to list them. No matter what Boba Fett was bound to be a "badass"...

I had some trouble adapting to the changes that were presented with Ep 1 and 2 at first. There are so many conflicting points of view in the Expanded Universe of Star Wars that the differences made with the prequels hardly seems to stand-out... to me.
It's all a matter of shifting your paradigms.

But that's just me.
