I don't think I've heard her stuff so I can't say "Hell, this girl can write music!" or "Gah! her stuff is crap!"
As for her subject matter, it does seem to be easier to write about the "dark" than it is about "shiny happy people" and still have the piece be taken seriously.
Still, any diversion away from the ho hum drum of "ugh..ugh.. @#%$ and ho's ...ugh ..ugh..." rap crap is probably a good thing.
Not saying all rap is crap... but one does get tired of hearing "ugh ..ugh.. motherfuc*beep*..ugh...ugh..".
