Well, maybe why Vader saved his son because he killed the love of his life when he was Anakin Skywalker and the guilt on his mind when he force choke on Padme. Vader didn't want Luke to die from the dark side like the way Padme did.

From watching previews, I have the sinking sensation that Vader only thinks he killed Padme. The previews suggest she dies in childbearing (lame way to die in a hyper advanced society) and Palpentine tells Anakin that he killed her.
