Return of the King of the Cafe!
Sounds good. I'm in a swashbuckling mood, maybe it's worth checking out. And your lack of romance for the plot truly makes me want to see it (Why must everything have romance??? Not everyone falls in love just because bad things are happening).

TNO's Finest
lol.. Julius, I did indeed see it on Friday night and loved every minute of it.
It was a very good period piece and a clever portrayal of the luck, cunning and tactics of old naval warfare.
One thing I noted was the lack of "musical scores" during the battle sequences. The film seemed "quiet" at parts and it hit me about the lack of accompanying score... which I thought was novel.
Julius, the doctor (Aubrey's friend) played Chaucer (Heath Ledger's announcer in A Knight's Tale) and was one of the imaginery people Russel Crowe hallucinated in A Beautiful Mind.
A friend of mine recognized "Pippen".
And of course, that "one armed boy" rocked! The theatre cheered him on as he saved the ship and carried the fight to the enemy.
The ending was perfect for the movie....
I'd watch it again.
I'll have to read up on the author the books the movie is taken from. I've only read Horatio Hornblower books which are similiar.
(Of course I would really like to see a good movie on Napoleon himself...alas!)
Great write-up Julius.

those blinded by rage are by destiny ensnared
You know, so far, these are the only positive reviews I've seen of this. Even Russel Crowe fans are panning it.

Return of the King of the Cafe!
Wow, really? I loved it, thought it was great naval excitement, if gory during the operations.

Kneel Before Zod!
Hey! That's 3!!

Critic reviews in the Indianapolis Star (my paper) were good.

Most local Canadian papers gave it four stars.
And dare I point out that there is no romance is because there's only all of one woman in the whole thing.
