Man of Ambition
May I raise a point here? The Forge is a planet in my post Infinite Entropy. It is a codename for a Union factory planet we wished to be hidden. It is not a space station. Perhaps you are thinking of the Star Forge?

Money Makes the Galaxy Go Round
Yeah..... I don't understand why everyone think the Forge is a space station.
IT IS A PLANET.
No one assumes that the Imperial world "Bastion" is anything other than a planet.
THE FORGE is just a codename for the world, in the same manner as Bastion is for an Imperial planet.
So don't associate me with a problem... (plus i was just posting the link to the takeover, which was Estro's doing)

Until now, I didn't know Rico was a different person to Estro.

The Forge is not a station.
It is a planet. I planet being sucked into a black hole very very slowly.
So there shouldn't be a problem.
Sure there is. There's the issue of it being physically impossible to take over a planet caught in the gravity well of a black hole.
But hey, you can take over planets from the confines of an inclosed holding cell too, so I guess the Union can do anything.

fuck that duck
We can also take destroyed planets... canon isn't treated terribly heavy here. Though I wonder what effect (tactical advantadge?) that little piece of information might have if someone finds it and attacks it?

Ahnk.
A planet can be caught in a balck holes gravity.
If it was ensnared at a vast distance from the black hole, it would slowly be drawn in by they gravity of the black hole.
Scientists confirmed the exsitance of black holes by observing stars that orbited them, caught in their gravity, at a close distance (speaking in lightyears) and spinning around them:

The Forge is caught similarly in the black hole's gravity, albiet at a great distance. It's descent is slowed by its primary's gravity (that star of course is also caught in the black holes gravity).

One, I didn't say that it's not possible for a planet to be lodged in a black hole. I know that it is.
Two, the theory of black holes is under some debate... there is question as to whether they actually exist, as they have never seen a black hole consume anything (for obvious reasons) only it's seeming to effect local stars by way of it's gravity.
Three, my point is, that any planet caught in the gravity well of a black hole would be impossible to be visited by space craft, as any craft that came close to it would, also, be caught in the well and be unable to ever leave. That would make it impossible to take over, build a base on, or run operations from.
But nice try.

That makes since in the real world.
But explain to me the Maw Installation.
That facility was surrounded by black holes. Yet it was visited by numerous people who cam and go at will.
A black hole's gravity is powerful enough to prevent light from escaping.... but in the Star Wars Universe you can go faster than light if you travel via hyperspace. Thus, it can be assumed, with the evidence of the Maw Installation, that hyperspace is powerful enough to escape the gravity of a black hole.
And thus operations could be conducted from there.

Blink If You Can Hear Me
Yeah, The Maw is canon.
We have to accept that is is bullshit because it is canon. I don't like it, but it exists.
If the Forge is canon I will make a smilar exception, but I do not believe it is.

Kneel Before Zod!
Yeah, I was going to bring up the Maw but not the installation itself but the effect the Black Hole's gravity has on a nearby planet.

Maw, The

Planet of Origin: Kessel
this collection of black holes was located near the planet Kessel. Its existence was one of the galaxy's strangest mysteries, since it seemed improbable that a group of black holes could exist in such close proximity. The greatest minds in the galaxy have been arguing about its conception: was it a freak of nature, this combination of multiple black holes; or, was it a gateway device created by some lost, ancient civilization. Because of the intense gravity in the area, the Maw was slowly drawing the entire Kessel system into the black holes.
