Because that would take FOREVER to train (I'm still not done my Jedi guy's training) and I'd have to keep switching accounts, and they'd be intended for secondary/supporting cast, not main characters like PCs are.

*Rolling of eyes* I think you're treating this as too big an issue. NPCs, even Jedi ones, are just as powerful as any other NPC. When you read Lord Of The Rings, the two towers, did that army of Uruk-Hai have the power to win the battle? No. The power to decide the victor lay in the hands of J.R.R. Tolkein, and through cunning and descriptive writing he made you believe that the Rohirrim won the day.
So an NPC, wether he be a Jedi or a lowly serf, is no stronger then any other NPC. He is as strong as the writer wants him to be. And since any conflicts are between two people and thus two writers, he has only the power to advance the story in the direction the two writers push him, not force it in the direction I wish like my character or OOC assets could.

I think the main thing everyone is worried with NPCs is that people would try to use NPC assets to destroy OOC assets (A Big No No).Sorry Kraken, just wondering, how do you take over a vessel without NPC troops? What, do you recruit the thousand PCs necessary? Do it with one guy? Use the power of Jesus? Oh I thought so. How do you take planets without them, for that matter? Once again, I thought so.
Infantry assets are not built on TRF. Therefore NPC units are in fact an integral part of any RP, the relative strength of an NPC assault being determined by that of its commander. In theory, you could use a team of NPCs commanded by, for instance, a Jedi or Sith, to saboutage or infiltrate whatever you so desire.
As much as you all would like to isolate all other aspects of play from fleet RPing it doesn't work that way. This does not equate to carte blanche to load a Jedi onto a Reign Star Destroyer, carve through everything on board in one post and blow it up. As part of a larger effort, however, NPC forces will not be discounted.
For those of you who will respond to this with "BUT HE CAN'T HURT MY SHIPS AND SHIELDS AND TURBOLASERS CAN HE" I say: quit your whining, suck it up and fight back.

Personally, I think all this could have been avoided if Dolash just simply did the roleplay. If he started doing something weird or wrong we would bash him over the head, throw pies at him and generally make fun of his disposition.
If he did something cool, unique with the NPCs, he'd be hailed as a genius and offered an R&D Mod spot.
Brutus is a good example of using NPC stuff to carry out terrorist acts against the Empire (which is what INS will call your little acts anyway), so look to him.
Of course there is an unspoken limit to what you can do and alot depends on A). How much the person you are acting against minds and B). If you don't mind the same thing being done to you in return.
With force-wielders be very careful. As far as I know, TRF is pretty strict on Uber Force Users jumping from TGC over to TRF with all their wonderful uber-esk powers. We make them go through the training so to simply "create" a Jedi Master out of nothing (for expediency) sort of underminds their efforts and everyone who actually takes the time to train, duel and "level-up" their character.
It's true that NPC's can be used for OOC advantage if done reasonably and fairly (ie: the example that Theren brought out).
So, I suppose that is the key to your request:
Reasonable and Fair.
Of course, if this is some elaborate way to get "staff approval" for NPC force users and you launch a million Jedi Masters against your foes informing your opponent, "the staff ok'd it" you would be in for a very rude awakening.
