I just bought a computer with a 2.4 ghz quad-core processor, 4 GB of 800 mhz RAM, and a GeForce 8800 GTX, among other things. I.e. you stink.

Well, the above configuration will kick the everloving crap out of what you have by a huge scary margin. You should settle your financial situation first (IMO). For $300, though, you'll have room to upgrade any of the parts later and not be stuck in 5yearsagoville.

I can't decide if some new wheels and tires or a new computer in the 2g range is my next project. Waiting until after this 3 month patrol I'm making and a few more dx10 cards have come out.
Morgan: I may have asked you this before a while back before I decided to save up for a car instead, but as far as single monitor set-ups go, what do you find to be a good size? I've not experimented with any monitors in quite some time as I've been using my 15.4 laptop exclusively for about 2 years. With my new gaming rig I'm thinking between 22 and 24 inch widescreen LCD. It seems like any bigger would be somewhat impractical and unwieldy.

I actually got it from Digital Storm. This computer was under 3k US$, allthough that's without the monitor (I got a 19" widescreen, 2 ms response time, 2000:1 cr).
Digital storm has been pretty good so far. They called me because my 1000W power suply woulden't fit and because they thought I should upgrade my sound card.

The price difference between a 22" and a 24" LCD is staggering. Mind, if you're looking at a high-end 22", it will cost you, too. But there are tonnes of cheaper ones available for pennies, really. And the panels themselves come from the same two or three companies.
24" screens are massive - I checked out the 24" iMac not long ago, and the thing is a monster. You should see their 30" LCD. Unreal... :drool:
