Ok guys.
Drayson, I understand your point. When this was brought up it should have been discussed more before such drastic actions were taken. Because it seems like only one person had the "correct" view of the rules and he is the only one around who had a hand in writing them.
As a staffer, I can say that the ignorance rule that is being applied to roleplayers is the same rule that should be applied to staffers. We did not question it ourselves and so we did not recognize this error being committed by other groups.
It has been brought up that as a staffer, it is our job to police or to have caught this early on. And yet, the reason groups were not notified or even checked for this is because 90% of the staff did not know of this understanding themselves (as shown by their own losses).
I know you could care less about everyone else's own pain at losing their ships and all... Your fleets do represent work. They represent work for everyone.
We as staff have to care about everyone else's pain and, in this, it does seem the greater part of practicality to bring everything in line with this understanding. Such is the nature of fleet roleplaying management.
And for the loss of that work, to everyone: I am sorry. We are sorry.
The same sort of anger was brought up during the last fleet restart and some groups had to bite the bullet and go with it.. much to their angst.
This time, all groups (including TNO) bites the bullet. I cannot say it will be the last time this happens either because in fleet roleplaying situations are diverse and always changing.
However, I can promise that the next time something this major is brought up, we aren't going to be lemmings following the poor hapless rodent that, in his haste, tossed himself over the cliff. I would caution groups not to act before staff has a chance to review and discuss the issue. In the future such action is taken at your own risk.
FYI to all: Once a decision has been made, though, it will be complied with. You may hate it, you make think it's a "shitty deal" and you may even say so in post. But it is pointless to argue a position that has already been decided on as it only undermines your own position and privileges.
