This seems to have been ignored which to me looks like the crux of the problem...

You're telling people it'll take X amount of days to build Y defense. Answer me this, how do you expect people to take from that that there is meterage involved when with EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS BUILD is done with meters?

And don't give me "It's in the rules." This single fact is obvious enough that all the groups had to take huge losses on this: THE RULES DON'T MAKE IT CLEAR ENOUGH.

Simple solution to that. Tell anyone planning to attack to hold off for the period of the grace period. Kas, no matter how you try to spin this, it is almost 100% the staff's fault. The rules no not make it clear that defences are part of the meterage. The definition of mantinence spells out capital ships and starfighters - if anything, the rules dealing directly with what mantinence is should inform us that it includes defences. The rules, right now, essentially say that only items built in shipyards count as mantinence.

You also have no answered how we were to "know" how much mantience was required per defence. Construction Yards build at three different rates, all of them totally different from shipyards.

No, it doesn't. The "rule" is one sentance, with no other mention in the rules, and with other rules that contradict this rule. It is not "foggy", it is clearly miswritten. And since the rules contain other misprints, it is quite clear to me that this could well be one of them. Especcially considering it has never been mentioned before.

When I read your posts, I see this: "We screwed up, but I DON WANNA DROP MY SHIPSAAAA!!!! Waaaahhh... It's the Staff's fault! Hang them! Hang them!"

That's because you're willfully ignoring the point and screaming "It's in the rules to bad now shutthefuckupimrightyournot!" The rules are not clear. The rules are not consistent. That is the fault of the staff.

See, Kas, the thing is that TNO could scrap half its assets and still outnumber almost every group at TRF. I admit, I don't want to lose ships, because I've taken the time and energy to build them. But it would hardly screw us.

I'm saying that we shouldn't all suffer because the staff fucked up. It's your fault, now take some fucking responsibility yourself. All I see you saying is "it's in the rules, to bad."

The bottom line is that no one, ever, asked, despite the rules for Planetary Defenses saying they count against meterage. Yes, there is a contradiction with another rule, but no one brought it up. They glossed over it and made an assumption. That's not our fault.

I'm willing to share responsibility and we will fix the rule. I'd be open to a grace period, but the bottom line is that it is not fair to groups that did not know a grace period would be offered and legalized their assets immediatly.

That would be true, Ahnk, if only one group had broken the rule. The fact that every group here broke it is proof enough that the rule was not simply "unclear". You're laying the blame on everyone isntead of on the people responsible for making the rules - you.
So take responsibility for your failures.

What is this with you, and pointing fingers at the 'Staff'? Are you forgetting that everyone is being burned by this? I'm staff, but I had to toast half of my assets.

We are taking responsibility. I've cleaned my manifest up, Seth has done his, Omnae has done his, Grevious has done his... The only one not 'taking responsibility' is you.


And about this whole grace period thing... It's infinitely easier to have everyone scrap all across the board and then rebuild than it would be to extend a temporary 'grace period' in which our fleeting would essentially freeze.

Hypothetically, say we give a grace period of 30 days. For the next 30 days, no one will be able to attack anyone else, because the status of assets is unknown. And in 30 days even the fastest moving group can only capture 5 planets, 75,000 meters worth of ships. I had to nix 130,000 meters of ships; I would need two months of solid planetary takeovers to get legal.

Now say we make everyone scrap. Within a few days everyone is legal, and RP'ing can continue like normal. If you want, you can go on a two-month planet capture spree, building as you go. Then you'll have your ships back, whee.
